Stimulus Checks 2009 edition
« on: May 09, 2009, 06:24:24 PM »
Is there such a thing?
Some sources stated March, others April, while further sources cite May.

Any takers for June?

Seriously though, are "we" getting them, or not?
forecast for tonight is alcohol, low standards and poor decisions

my "stimulus" check was not having federal taxes taken out of my check.

Luckily I had extra taken out so I dont have to pay in next year

Honestly, whoever thought that was a good idea should be hung by the neck

Why would you even worry if you're getting a hand-out or not?

My dad and i both just got stimulas checks through SS. $ 250 each  this week.

My parents both just got this. According to the letter that came ahead of the checks it's for SS RECIPIENTS not just anybody.
When my mom told me my wife thought we would get 1 or 2 as well until I told we would have to be drawing out SS or SS-disability.

As for the stimulus checks the only thing I have heard is that we are getting a few extra bucks in each paycheck = to $400 for singles and $800 for couples. they then divide that by how many checks you get a year and voila. personally I would rather they didnt because what they DONT tell you up front is that next year at tax time.......

..............

............wait for it

...........

We get to PAY THAT CASH BACK!! woohoo!!!
just like when my accountant did my taxes and informed me that I gotta figure in that $600 we got last year as income and pay taxes on it   :furious

I would have rather not gotten it. It is all smoke and mirrors to make ppl feel better but in truth it really doesn't amount to much. I can make make more than that working about 13hrs of OT in a week
Crap now I gotta redo my cool sig.....crap!!! I cant remeber how to do it all !!!!!

Making $7.40 an hour, being disabled, and a full-time college student, getting any extra income is gladly welcomed.

Jerk.

Is that better?

you might want to check around because I paid no taxes on that money and did not have to pay any of it back neither.

The way it was explained to me was that money was considered a refund on your 2008 taxes that was just paid out to you before the end of the tax season. This was not income but wrote in to be refund of what you were going to be paying in anyway.

As a matter of fact there were some people received too much money due to the child credit that went with it. The refund was given based on 2007 taxes and some people had dependants in 2007 but none in 2008. Those people all got the child credit when they received their refund and paid none of it back but the parent that did claim those children that year were able to get the refund for their child on their 2008 tax return. This is the reason H&R block had all those advertisements that said that you may still receive money from the stimulus that was paid out in 2008.
Haxxor has returned!!!!

I didn't pay my 2008 Stimulus back either and I was thinking the same thing because the first stimulus, (when was that?), I did pay back because there was a place on my 1040EZ to deduct it from any refund I received that year.

Not this year though.

I'm getting mine this month, just got a letter saying that I'm getting $250 from Obama's stimulus plan, but it's through my SSI disability I get.
