Are we getting restless?
« on: May 10, 2009, 09:41:26 PM »
...just on my mind for some time, what do you folks think?

1. lack of updates and fun factor wearing on me after many many many ....many months playing this game.  Never played a monthly fee game that didn't update, I know it's more difficult in this game as the cartoons have physics, tons o math and even more tons o research, but maybe some strategic maps with deep enemy territory industry to bomb or...dunno.  SOMETHING. Work on the ground game, work on different ways to take territories, work on what it MEANS to take a territory, dwindling supplies, flying sheep - SOMETHING.

2. net code needs updated faster.  Connections are cheaper.  This game could be 5x more realistic if there were faster updates to and fro.  YES they can adjust this.  Might mean a faster, more reliable - less budget business class connection and better servers,..but they CAN do this.

Just my 2 cents...  Don't know what others are thinking.  Maybe I just need a couple months off.

Disagree  ;)

Niche market, bad economy.  You don't purposely decrease your existing player base without very careful considerations of how many you would possibly pick up.

I'm pretty sure that HTC knows exactly how many players they have running on what type of connections and equipment.  Since they have specifically mentioned that some older, less powerful graphics cards (like the Intel Embedded cards) will still work with the new version they are making they KNOW how much they stand to lose if they don't support it....

Unlike games like Eve where the Devs said "We estimate that 97% of all computers will support Shader 3.0 by November, so we are going for that as our minimum video standard" when less than 50% of their current player base was running it  :huh

That said, new maps, new "goals", working on ground units, etc gets a big  :aok Just don't equate higher hardware requirements with a better game....

Aren't we always restless?

I have yet to lose interest after 2 1/2 years.  Fly different planes.  Do different stuff.

Internet connections are cheap because they are routing people all over the country on overloaded networks to save money instead of upgrading infrastructure.

There's a cool map in this thread of, instead of routing from A to B, someone getting routed half way around the country to get to Dallas.

I think we get updates pretty frequently for such a small staff of people.
Everything points to the next update being pretty large.
I don't think updates will fix any of the real problems though.

Break your computer, take a month or so off. Then you'll forget the stupid crap that happens, and just want to play. IMO

PS. my computer had it coming. :D DOH!

Let us not loose the big picture. For all our little quibbles, this is still the greatest WWII flight sim ever devised, bar none. :aok :rock
