Does Macy's allow you to redeem your gift card for cash?

I can't speak for Macy's but I don't know of any place that will let you redeem a gift card for cash.  That would be giving you back money in their pocket.  You can always call and ask.

Nice try. They'll only give you a store credit....on another card!

Gift cards are convenient for giver, but not a great way to give gifts. Millions of dollars are unused each year, and most of the time people end up having to spend extra to completely use up a card if they get that far. Worst of all, gift card holders are UNSECURED creditors...so if the company goes under, the cash is gone forever. That's what happened to thousands of folks who held Sharper Image cards, for example. They were SOL.

Gift cards are a great scam. Someone gives you a $20.00 gift card to hobbie town or cabellas. You end up spending 19.50 on somthing and you can't get change. Either you lose the .50 or you buy somthing else and spend over the gift card amount. That is if you can find anything worth buying for $20.00. I know that's not what the thread is about but I hate gift cards.

Nowadays, most likely.

If he followed your advice in your earlier post he would have got the goods with his Gift Card, so any refund given would be on a gift card, if he had purchased using cash it is normally refunded in cash.
