strats
« on: May 14, 2009, 03:41:47 PM »
I have an idea for strats. How about making the strats worth defending. make them bigger, make them more important for the country, raise the building hardness a bit where 2 formations of buffs can't knock them down to 30%. But make them  more important to attack and defend. Instaed of one formation of buffs doin a leisurely strat run (I love these btw) you would need several formations. I think it would spawn more fights, mass bomber v fighter air battles, bigger furballs, and still help the win t eh war!! effort. right now the strats with the exception of HQ are after thoughts. Make em worth defending and worth attacking. And difficult for all sides. just an idea

Ahh.. who needs a huge fuel dump or AA ammo supply point?

Make 'em internet connection facility's..  The more they bomb your connection facility, the worse your connection get. ie: more lag, disco's.  That would make it worth defending.  :lol

Making them bigger might help, lowering the percentage of damage you could do in a single group. Of course this would open the doors to more milkers due to the extra targets available.

Making them more important is a fine line. This is a game and people are suppose to be here to have fun  :D FORCING them to defend things might not be their idea of "fun", and limiting what they can use due to the damaged strat will also curtail their fun, again, a fine line.

Good points Fugitive, but after a period of adjustment, I think game play will improve and new strategies will evolve.   The NOE 110 raid is growing a little stale for my taste.  I have to admit even a Pony NOE raid on a GV base was a marked improvement.  Why not make the Fuel Refineries and Communication Centers, major targets?  It just seems appropriate warfare to me.

Do you all realize what kind of havoc you can create if you attack strats in organized fashion?  I shudder to at the thought of giving them greater impact than they already have.

Impact? What impact?

Sorry Gav,

Maybe I fly for the wrong country but I have yet to see where an attack on anything other that HQ has impacted Main Arena play.  I frequently see on channel, "Pork troops..." or "Kill ord" but never ever heard anyone suggest attacking strats to gain an advantage.  Oh maybe once when the war was about to be over and one country was down to one airfield.

I think it would add another level of play. I agree it would take some adjustment at first, but not much. maybe higher fights. Maybe move the strats farther inland, a bit so they are protected somewhat.

I would like to see Strat targets tied to the availability of certain resources.   Like Aircraft.  Air Warrior used to have a spit factory that when damaged limited available aircraft.

Its obvious that the current system has no one worried about factory raids against their countries. What a solution could be is to increase the level of effectiveness of the current settings.

Solution #1: Instead of being limited to 75% fuel maybe for airfields within 50 miles get the 75% and then 51-75 miles 50% and then 76 miles+ from the factory only 25% available. For the ammo possibly even limiting the amount of ammo available to the aircraft, a spit for example normally has 1400mg rounds and 240 cannon rounds. If the factory was bombed to 50% + nothing would be effected, if the factory is 30-49% then the ammo is effected by 15%, the mgs would be down to 1190 and the cannons to 204. 10-29% would equal 20%, and then 0-9% would equal 25% of ammo loss to the aircraft.

Solution #2: Increased perk points = to percentage of damage done to the factory. 1% = 1/2 perk

Solution #3: Make factory bombing into a part of winning the war, instead of pure capture determining the winner make factory downtime a winning criteria.

these are just ideas, change them up to fit the game, its just what i think

The last time someone organized a coordinated attack on strats, so the story goes, they got a phone call from HTC the next day asking them not to do it again.  Take down all the strats for a zone and the city that supplies them at the same time, and then immediately bomb the snot out of ords, fuel, troops, radar, etc. and you can have everything shut down for a very long time, so much so that a credible counter attack is impossible.

Poppycock.

This I know to be true.  At least the "shut down for a long time" part.

hmm, reason enough to do it in my book lol  :devil

really Id just like to see more mass bomber formations.........and a mass attack against them. more mayhem and chaos.
