F4U breakaway wing tips
« on: January 17, 2000, 11:51:00 PM »
I have just completed several hours of testing in the F4U. And I would like to know who took all of the screws out of the wing tips of my Hog? Obviously some Grumman engineers have replaced my F4's wings with the breakaway wingtips of the F8F. Because every time I enter a high speed dive greater than 400mph in the F4U my wings fly off faster than a pony in a co-alt dogfight. Could someone please look into this problem. It is causing great concern with the enemy that I have resorted to killing myself rather than wait for someone else to kill me.

Thanks

Pyro,

I checked my film on this. I was 480IAS straight and level and 3g's on the accellerameter. Why did my wing pop off? F4U rated at 7.5 positive G pullout and 3.5 neg G's. I want my wing back!!

The F4U was known for it's extreme structural
integrety as were most Navy mounts built for rough takeoffs and landing aboard CV's.
I have the film on this if you want it.

Thanx F4UDOA
