Frame 2
« on: May 15, 2009, 11:55:35 PM »
Another great time!  CMs well done and a big <S> to our Cic for the evening!

Again another tough escort assignment and a lot of fun.  The 334th was escorting B24s of Jokers Jokers and had a blast.

The Jokers did very well and the escort that accompanied them did as well.

The best fight of the evening was when we were escorting bombers back home and a good number of 109s bounced us

over the water when we least expected it!  The 334th executed a rolling retreat after getting our buffs cleared and

tangled with 109s on the water on the deck.  Great Fun indeed!

Can't wait for frame 3!

Great Job AKwax for stepping up on the last min for CiC.  353rd FG escort the B-17 to A66 and A67 with great success.

The 109 and 190s in that area, you guys put up a great fight and made all possibles to get us to come lower.

You know, that's why FSO is cool.  You can have an event where you barely shoot, but it is still really exciting and the simplest MA accomplishment (landing alive) becomes really important to both the individual pilot and often times to the over all score.

Indeed! At work now just thinking about those ~15 minutes of fighting and maneuvering on the edge gets my adrenaline flowing again. No I got no sleep in between... sigh.

Frame 2 was a blast. The Allies' use of tactical air power resulted in a wonderful furball in my neck of the woods.
"Crikey, sir. I'm looking forward to today. Up diddly up, down diddly down, whoops, poop, twiddly dee - decent scrap with the fiendish Red Baron - bit of a jolly old crash landing behind enemy lines - capture, torture, escape, and then back home in time for tea and medals."

We went deep into France! OMG that was a fun FSO :aok.  We were escorts for the Ak's.  The whole group got inland without any trouble. Then came the 110's and 109's.  Was a big game of 'catch the bombers'.
After bombers hit last target, I looked at my map saw no frienly bases anywhere!. We continued to escape noe along some river in france.
Was fun frame for us and hats-off to the cm's and the AK's for the quick orders..
<S> To those axis pilots deep in France...  :salute

Although I landed safely with some scalps, I would score myself poorly for Frame 2 because I was ready to cruise home on autopilot once we were feet wet.  That's when 12-14 109s showed up.  I really wasn't expecting the Luftwaffe to seek combat 10 miles off the coast of England. :lol

Making it home last night was a victory in itself.  Glad you enjoyed it Herr Hopper.  Welcome to the dark side.  You are now one of those guys.  :aok
