You engage the bandit at 15K.
After a couple of turns, you land a snapshot that smokes the engine and wounds the pilot. Bandit unloads for the deck in the direction of ack and other bandits. You do not follow, because there are other bandits in the area and it would be pointless to give up all your alt to chase a kill into ack.
The bandit crashes himself attempting to RTB or in landing pattern, or simply expires from the pilot wound, or gets vulched attempting to RTB or in the landing pattern.
Current system: You probably get the kill.
Your proposed system: Whoever decides to bounce a smoking plane on the run gets a kill, or, if he crashes, someone closer gets the proxy, since we both know why we can't get rid of proxy kills.
