Free Flight Simulators
« on: May 16, 2009, 08:27:05 PM »
Are there any free simulators that I can download off the internet and be able to just fly around in modern day jets.  I think I'm either looking in the wrong places or there are none.  I have FSX, but it is just too much for my computer to handle, and I need something where I can fly and get away from AH when things aren't going well here.

Any ideas?

Try FS9? It's not free but it might be able to run on your comp.

Last year when I was laid up with two broken legs, I needed soemthing that would work on my wife's laptop 'cuz I just wanted to do something with airplanes.  I found an old copy of Flight Sim '98 or so that I had laying around.  It ran perfectly on the laptop!  Sure, the graphics created vacum pressure by oral means compared to FS9 and 10, but at least it let me fly something until I could get up and around.  Flying with the keyboard took me back to the old "Aces of the Pacific" days, but it worked.

Although not FREE, you can find old copies of OLD flight sims and stuff at used game stores for nearly free prices.  Might be an option.

I bought a copy of flight gear on e bay for 99 cents plus $1.50 postage but it just crashes all the time and seems to strugle to run on my computer. Targetware is ok but most of the time I seem to have very little idea what I'm doing.

Believe it or not but you can use Google Earth as a flight simulator, press Ctrl + Alt + A and you will get 2 choices F-16 or Cessna 172.

let me know if you have any problems with that.
