And while we're at it how about a little button to press that outputs all text from the buffer into a neat little log.txt file.

To what end?

Why is this request important?

So you can post films and complain about people without naming names.  A witch hunt with an anonymous witch as it were.

IMO that's just dishonest. You gonna post somebody being a tard, post it and let their name show for all to see.

Moot wants to be able to show training movies without making anyone feel sheepish, maybe.

because its the game play that is lame, not necessarily the game PLAYER, or what he's showing in a film is the maneuver, or lack of and there is no reason to embarrass the pilot involved, and maybe he has a little class  :D

You can turn off icons but the name of the players is still in the register to the right. I believe that is what he is wishing to have the option to remove

I understand the reason for the wish but I really have no preference one way than the other.

Personally, as a trainer, I'd really like to have the option to remove the other player names from my films as well.

If I'm posting films I'd like to have the option to show/discuss the tactics involved without the possible embarassment to the other player by showing his/her name and then pointing out all the mistakes they made that allowed me to kill them.

From a training/teaching perspective I'd like be able to show films and say "Look at how this guy did this and/or that, which allowed me to this..."  The "anonymous" factor would be appreciated...  Without it, I for one am very conscious of the fact that some may take the posted film as an example of me killing a certain player (which could look like bragging), when what I want to do is focus on the tactics...

mtnman - Thank you, that's exactly the intent.  Now I don't have to reply to Krusty and part of wrgway's post.

On the other hand, it could probably be abused with accusations of hacking, cheating, being total dweebs....

Film some known stick stirrer, remove the name, post it for all to see and remove the name, and claim it's m00t, or Krusty, or whomever.

IMO, there's nothing wrong with posting a training film of somebody and stating "This is just for example's sake" and 99% of all folks reading the post and downloading the .ahf file will know and understand it's educational in nature.

The rest of the community may not use it so wisely.
