Ammo Shortage?
« on: May 19, 2009, 11:33:08 AM »

WTF?  Is there some kind of ammo shortage?

I cruized by the local Bass Pro to pickup some .45 cal to plick this weekend and the shelves were freakin empty.  Local Wallyworld was out too.  Not just .45 but looks like most of the popular handgun flavors.

Does somebody know something I don't?  Should I pack a bug-out bag???? :huh

(Guess I'll be shooting my .22 at least),

Yep, I was at the Academy Outdoor shop in McKinney on Sunday and all they had was .22 short and .44 mag. Nothing in between. I used to squeak about the price of .357 sig ammo. Now I'd be happy to over pay for it lol. I hear that they've been able to keep up down at Carbella's, but I don't feel hiking all the way out to Ft. Worth.

you guys are seriously wondering why people have been soaking up all the available shelf ammo for the past 5 months?

Well, I knew gun sales were up, but I didn't realize you'd not be able to get ammo!  I mean the election was 7 months ago, I would have thought the supply chain would have caught up by now.  Jeeze.

No, like Wab said, I figured supply would catch up to demand.

Forget about 7.62x39...

It went from cheap and plenty to expensive and non-existent. I received a case on election day last year for 200 Shipped. Now its approaching 300 or more! When you can find it of course.
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

I'm happy that there is such a demand, it means people are spending money.

This is ooollllldd.  Something about troops using it somewhere....

Like trying to buy plywood in Pittsburg when there's a hurricane approaching Florida.

If you are refering to the 7.62, you are correct.

I do not believe that is the cause of the .45/.357/9mm cal shortage.  I think people are hording those only since the election. I have been buying .45 before the election just fine, and we've been at war since 2003.

Military is soaking up a lot of the better Ar15s in 308 along with the shells. If you put your name on the list you can still get one eventually with shells. As for shortages of other guns and ammo it is all because of the poor state of our government and the direction it is heading at this point.

You'd think so, but there is actually quite a bit of celebration over this sad fact in certain quarters. And its not "yippee, we're disarming drug dealers!" either. It is more like "yipee, we're sticking it to those G&g clinging rednecks".
