Going from SP3 back to SP2 windows XP home

I currently have the SP3 windowsXP home installed..I want to get rid of SP3 and downgrade back to SP2..Is this possible???Got the disc with SP3..

 Are any of you currently on SP2 and not on SP3??

Any particular reason for the downgrade?  I haven't had any hitches with SP3, other than a cheapo wireless pci card that's drivers were horrible and didn't like SP3.

I can't think of a valid reason to uninstall SP3, but it does have an uninstaller.

Go to Add/Remove Programs in the control panel, put a checkmark next to Show Updates at the top of the dialog box, and then scroll down to "Windows XP Service Pack 3" and click its Remove button.

If it isn't there, then the uninstaller has been removed, probably by a program that claims to regain space by removing unneeded files.

I just think this is going to cause issues and an eventual reinstall of the os. I could be wrong though.

Why do you want to uninstall SP3?  If you're having issues it's most likely something other than SP3.  I'm running it on three machines without issues.

just seemed like when I had sp2.I had no  issues with graphics in game,and I did not have an issue with my x52 uncalibrating..the only thing that is different other than that is that I have not partitioned my OS..

Falcon, there is an uninstaller for it which llama explained how to locate it (if you used SP2 to install SP3. For example, upgrading through Windows Update). I too had problems on my family's main computer when I upgraded it from SP2 to SP3. I think it was driver-related, yet a constant BSOD discouraged me from keeping the update to figure it out.

Hmmm... interesting.  My AV8R keeps uncalibrating too and now that you mention it it may coincide with the installation of SP3.  If you do uninstall it and it helps post back.  I have to recalibrate about every other log-on now.

Falc, I highly doubt SP3 has anything to do with your X52. Search around and you'll find dozen's of X52 owners with the same problem. Do yourself a favor and get a CH stick. You can use your X52 throttle but alas, you'll need a set of peds.

Or with USB ports which are overloaded.

I'm not using the Saitek control panal (never installed it) and the only USB port I'm using on my machine is the one that my Saitek is plugged into.  I've tried a different USB port but the issue remains.

The thing is it worked perfectly until a few months ago then suddenly started to need calibration every other time I logged on.

Sometimes when I get online and it needs calibration, I'll alt-tab out to Windows game controllers and everything is fine so I recalibrate in game and everything is good for a while, maybe even my entire session.  Other times it will once again lose calibration while in the game and need to be recalibrated again even though it's still good in Windows game controllers.  Still other times, it needs calibration in both Windows and in-game and if that's the case then the re-calibration will hold for the entire session.

The in-game but not Windows scenarios seem to happen most often when switching to and from GV's.

Buy a CH Fighterstick.   It was the best thing I did after the X45 and X52.
