Looking for advice on new mp3 player/media player
« on: May 20, 2009, 06:33:11 PM »
Well my last one decided to crap out with the battery life down to an hour or so and the memory on it was just too small for me now.  It was a 40GB toshiba gigabeat and it lasted me 6 years so I cant complain.

I am no deciding between a 120GB zune or the 120GB archos 5.  Any advice on which one I would be better off with or if anyone has experience with either would be greatly appreciated.

I can't really comment on the ones you're deciding between.  All I can say is I've always been a fan of Samsung's MP3 players.  The first one I had as the YP-E64, massive 64mb circa 1999-2000 for $200.   I bought my wife a 512mb T7 about 4 years ago and it was solid.  I've used my T9 for about 2 years now (4gb).  Of course I don't care my entire collection with me all the time (as I prefer it that way).  All of their products have been rock solid quality for me, but not of their current line offers the capacity you seek.

I'm just glad you never hopped on the Ipod bandwagon, there are a lot better choices out there.

I cant stand Ipod just for the fact that everyone has to have one.  I despise apple because of the Ipod and agree that I do think that there are better options out there.  Thats the reason I had gotten the Toshiba that I had.  I paid $150 for 40GB and at the time it was $300 for a 30GB Ipod.  Just a huge ripoff imo.

My brother has a ipod touch and I would not pay that much for a mp3 player which has only max of 32gb.

I have a at&t tilt which is a touch screen phone and keyboard as well as it has windows mobile on it.  Internet is no big deal to me since I do have that.  I have the high speed data package on it which is faster than 3g and it also has wifi.

I have a Zune and love it.  It's a big improvement over my old Zen mp3.  I really like the software for it and everything has gone smoothly, good pic and vid quality, nice feel to the thing and the battery lasts me pleny long.  I know nothing at all about the Archos.  I do like my Zune though.
