Toad, GENIOUS! ROFL!!!

I'd like to bring something to attention here. C-Hog has the highest % of kills since it came into AH. C-Hog is EVERYWHERE on the friggin islands map. On the Uterus map, a c-hog was as common as a spit or a 109.. it was awesome to be able to fly in a map without hordes of 1 ping wonders spraying all over. How many people had BETTER, more enjoyable, dogfights in the uterus map? I did for once. Maybe the fact that fleek BS flak couldnt prevent me from getting alt adv on chogs helped that in some way.

IMO, the C-Hog should be perked because of its WEAPONS. The N1k should be perked for its weapons and its UFO FM (until its fixed or something). The La-7 should be a VERY CHEAP perk (2-3 perks?), same as the P-51D and the 190D9 due to their incredible speed and excellent weapon packages.

I agree, the weapons load and strength are phenomenal. As a rule, the hog is one of the toughest aircraft ever built. I ought to know, we have built 2 of the fuggers. Anyways, perk the damn thing, then maybe the art of dog fight will return.

P.S. every book ive read on F4ud states it had special pylons added to allow it to carry bombs.I have found NO mention of same loadouts on the F4Uc.Also ALL books state F4Ud carried bombs OR rockets and i have never seen a picture of F4Uc/d with both have you?
something is wrong with either my books or AH.I know which i find more likely to be right and thats the books.

LOL.....sounds kinda like a "give me a reason to stay" whine that another customer used at one point.

I honestly believe that if there werent so much whining about the C-hog and the N1K that there would be less people flying them. Its the first thing that any newbie sees or hears in this place. Even when I first showed up back in the summer of 2000 it was the only thing I read about on these boards.

My only advice to the folks in this thread that are threatening to leave is.....do what you have to. If the game isnt fun to you anymore the way it is, then go. But dont just hang around and bring the rest of us down.

The music is getting old.....its time to change the record.

cc sling, I will do that if next tour or the tour after that has the isles map, no sense in paying to be aggraveted.

the isles map almost literally requires you to abuse the insane fleet ACK and the CHOG superguns because its the only quick and effective way to take fields..plus the fleets can move around. The uterus map rarely saw so many chogs, matter of fact, I think I only recall seeing the dedicated chog dweebs flying them back then. Lotsa 109's and a good mix of other AC in the uterus... now its hog here hog there, death from 1 ping from fleet flak or stalling&spraying chog.

Its sickening.

Just to let ya know, AH is not making anything up concerning the ability of the Hog to carry both bombs and rockets. They were able to carry both, the rockets are mounted on mini pylons under each wing, with the bombs mounted under the wing center section. Curiously, the rockets did not burn up the fabric covering aft of the spar. The early corsairs had fabric covering from the spar to the trailing edge from outboard of the gun bays to the phenolic tip on the wings. One more attempt to save weight, that and the plywood ailerons were nifty ideas on Chance-Voughts side. But, I bet ya'll did not know why the wing is an inverted gull shape.

I am ABSOLUTELY convinced this is a totally bogus argument, despite the fact that people keep trying to make it.

Newbies fly the CHog because they can get easy kills, fast, without much accuracy needed, and with tons of ammo, NOT because they they see people whining about the CHog.

The idea that the CHog is some sort of mediocre, ordinary plane that only is so commmon because newbies use it because they see so much whining about it is a fantasy.

If they were only flying it because they saw people whining about it, but it really wasn't that great, the newbies would quickly abandon it after a couple sorties.

Heck, few newbies (and I'd say only a fraction of the overall players in AH) even read this BBS, so the only whining they'd be exposed to is in the MA open channel.

The central issue to me is that there's been such a general anti-whining backlash over ANY issue, that in the case of the CHog, it's gone too far the other way.

People hate whining, and in terms of the CHog, while there has been intelligent whining, a lot of it has been stupid.

But the problem is, anyone making valid points whining about the Chog is simply lumped in with the idiots, attacked for complaining at all, etc.

I believe the CHog is bad for the game, and the game would be more interesting and fun for all with it as a low cost perk, and there are many rational people with solid arguments who agree. There are also many idiots with stupid arguments who agree the Chog should be perked, too :-)

But there are also many constantly repeated stupid arguments in defense of the Chog, . "Well, I shot one down last night in my Mc202, so it can't be that great, and doesn't need to be perked" or "If you perk the Chog you have to then perk the nextmost popular aircraft and then the next next most popular aircraft until everything is perked".

There are no US forces AT ALL in Hostile Shores.

At least not yet :-)

In terms of the HS order of battle so far, the ONLY fantasy aspects are ALL on the LW side, actually, in terms of aircraft numbers and aircraft types.

Everything on the Allied side so far is more or less historical.

When I was a newbie, I read these boards endlessly getting tips here and there, looking for anything to improve my game. I do remember coming across threads about the CHOG, and the NIK. I also tried those planes for more than just a few sorties, because of the debates that were raised here concerning those AC. However, I quickly learned that neither one of those AC fit my flying style, yes the NIK turns well and ooohh the guns of the CHOG, but the fact remained that I was a poor pilot in either crate (still am).

I think the point I was trying to make is some folks will try a plane(s) based on what's said here, but that doesn't mean thats why there are soo many CHOG drivers in the Arena. And now I would like to personaly thank the AH crew for the LA-7

Now I can kill people.

Actually, a 2-part answer:
Due to the prop size, ground clearance was needed, but now the landing gear would be too long, thus the gull wing, to bring the gear closer to earth.

Tac - I am not trying to piss people off with my earlier post. I hate to see anybody leave the game, but seriously, if you arent having fun anymore then take a break. When you get that itch again...come on back, grab a CHOG and go kill somebody.

Torgo - I hate to disagree with you, but ask any newbie in the MA why they are in a Chog and see what answer you get.
