Imagine how adequate you would feel riding this around? The "big gun, little scooter" concept was intended to give paratroopers light artillery support, and hundreds of these things actually saw duty in Algeria and Indochina. And if you're thinking that firing this thing while driving would be suicidal, take heart: well-trained gun crews could apparently pull it off(Image removed from quote.)(Image removed from quote.)
Shouldn't be too bad actually, that looks more like a recoilless rifle than an actual cannon.
Why are you calling it Nazi tech? The "Bazooka Vespa" (Troupes Aeról Portées Mle 56/Aerial Troop Carrier model of 1956) were used by the French in the '50s, with surprising success. You're correct, it's the M-20 75mm recoilless rifle.ack-ack
just so we're clear...not all Germans were Nazis
I stand corrected...figured only the crazy Nazi engineers would come up with something like this..
Looks to be a two person moped O' death type thingy,Intrestingly however, the rails on the sides and rear seem to be for a rear facing passenger to hook his boot heals into. Why else would the seat be so long, and that rail be present?
They were actually used in teams of two by French paratroopers. One scooter carried the recoiless rifle and 4 rounds of ammunition while the second scooter carried the remaining recoiless rifle rounds (6 rounds). Apparentely, some crews were very accurate with their fire while on the move. Some teams were also proficient enough to be able to reload while on the move as well.
