I want a knew system i have about 1400 to work with and my frankensteined dell just dont cut it any more.....I have burnt up 2 boards and my warranty is about to expire.... I would like to build my own instead of getting stuck with some pre-made  POS

You can't link to your Shopping Cart, no one other than you can see it.  Direct links only.  $1400 can buy you a lot of stuff.  Are you planning on reusing anything?  OS?  Hard drives? Monitor?  Keyboard? etC?

Building your own PC is a lot of fun if you haven't done it before.

I enjoy doing this now.  Roughly $500 under budget too.

Pretty good build by Karaya except I'd get the Creative X-Fi Gamer card instead (the one that's about $90.00).

for that budget Tildeath can build a great system-ask anyone who has bought one-I got the q9550 intel quad core w/4 megs ram an never run under 59 on framerate

I've been quite impressed with your selection Karaya for several builds.

I basically limit my suggestions to CPU, Hotas, Optical drives, and Power Supplies. These things I am real confident on after many many experiments. (no Baldeagl, I haven't melted anything.................yet    ) I'm never sure about motherboards or video cards. I've bought bad equipment in both of those categories. Currently I am using an Abit mother board that I just love and an MSI board. Both seem very good. However I am not confident enough to recommend either. Also Abit no longer makes mb's. Ditto for memory, although I favor OCZ from what I have read, from what others have said, and I use OCZ in one of my computers with no issues.  In both of my machines I use ATI video cards, one is an 3850 and the other is a 3870. No problems with either. I went to ATI after buy a funky Nvidia 8600. It was bad. It ran but it just didn't measure up. After switching to ATI I built a machine for my mom and used the 8600 on her machine. She had issues. It wouldn't run some videos. We switched to an ATI 3870 and no more issues. I do recommend the NZXT case and the Antec 900. I have a 900 and it is Mr. Cool. I have a CoolerMaster case that I totally regret buying. It does the job and is fairly easy to work with but the on/off switch is annoying. It's on the side and pushes in awkwardly while the 900's button is beautiful and located on the top. What impresses me with the NZXT is the room inside. Anyone who has butted up against the drive bays understands this.

Mom's machine was a budget build. I used an e2200 and a gigabyte mb. It runs great! I can't remember the brand of the ram. The HD was a WD and the optical drive was a Samsung SATA DVD Lightscribe. Like the one in my machine. The only issue was the 9 year old Dell Keyboard. That is fixed along with weak speakers.
