Considering the Possibility
« on: May 23, 2009, 12:42:12 AM »
...of forming my own heavy ordinance group. Individuals interested would need to be patient as the focus would be strategic bomber and attack strikes from sufficient altitude. I don't expect a big response, as this game is seemingly more about immmediate gratification. But those that are interested I suspect would have an appreciation of the realistic roll of the bomber, and would like to represent that in AH. I mainly play in the MA's Friday night, and here & there on weekends. Other obligations limit my time during the week.

Will ponder this idea some more in the future.

Feel free to post here, any patient, mature individuals who are interested. We might just hammer something out. :pray

EDIT:  An example of the type of squad I'm after, earlier today our five-flight B17 strike on Knits V135, V136 area in LWO. <S> to those Bish that took the time to run the mission through to completion.

Progress thus far:

After a lot of digging & deciding, a few of us decided on naming this tentative squad after the actual WW2 bomber group, The 91st Bomber Group (Heavy) "The Ragged Irregulars".
Also, I have someone volunteering to head up a fighter/escort contingent, as well as design a website.

I still have a few things to iron out before commit to this idea.

Give me a shout if you are interested. 18 & up, please.

Yes, I will still be Bish to be around for my BOP & Bish friends.

As I stated earlier, this is tentative. I haven't officially decided to leave the BOPs, yet.

@ Thndregg -
I think it's a great idea, and something this game is truly lacking. I know there are some other named Heavy Bomb Groups, but I rarely see them flying organized missions consistently. Maybe they do, and I just don't see it, but it's still my opinion that the game could always use more historically accurate bomber implementation.

@ everyone else -
If you like bombers and their appropriate historical role, jump on board with this immediately. Thndregg is a class act and puts up very fun missions whenever he's on. I can't imagine this new HBG being anything other than a great time.

Thanks for the compliments, and Trotter, I think you are spot on. The hard part of something like this is patience and time. There are still some hellacious fights to be had. It just happens later than sooner, I hate to say-- but it does happen, and both sides have loads of fun. At the very least, it makes for good film, screenies, AAR's. ;)
