Video Card Which?
« on: May 23, 2009, 01:02:09 PM »
Ok i want to upgrade the video card and i thought i was going with the 9800gtx+.. Well i won alittle money at the casino and was wondering what you guys would do. Here are some choices i was looking at. Stick with the 9800gtx+ and get new psu for the future. The gts250 ( i know its like the 98's) new cpu cooler ( still have stock one on hehe). Or the 260 and just hold onto rest for a rainy day. I do have a 550 watt psu but the requirments for the 260 are alittle close to my liking since it needs a min of 38amps on the 12rail. But here is everything i have installed on it right now

*will only stick with Nvidia srry ati fans :)

Antec 1200 case (lots of fans if it matters)
550 Corsair 42amp single rail  ( it does have the right connections for any of the cards 1 6 pin and 1 6/8 pin so no running off the 4 pins)
4 gb ram
500 gb HD
Blueray reader/writer
E5200 cpu

Think it will be enough to power it?

Maybe, but I would go with a PC Power and Cooling Power supply in the 750w range. Solid performer.

I's stay with the 9800 GTX+.  It's more than enough for this game.  You won't touch it's potential.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

depending on how much is a little extra go with the 9800 gtx and get yourself a full CH setup  (stick + throttle + pedals)  then you can really start enjoying the game by maximising your flying skills.

Thought maybe of doing this also. Just wondering down the line will the gtx be enough for awhile game wise. Mostly for the new diablo, starcraft and some other mmo's. right now i still use the trusty old sidewinder (still love this thing lol ) just had to stop for awhile since the current graphic card (9300ge this was an old Hp comp but been upgrading as i go) was getting pretty bad, was dropping in frame rates on my 24inch monitor to almost a crawl at some points even with everything turn down. So this was the next logical step to bring it back up and maybe try some other games. So maybe i will just stick with the gtx+ and think about the full flight setup.

You dont have a 150 frame rate now!
If you like the Sick Puppy Custom Sound Pack the please consider contributing for future updates by sending a months dues to Hitech Creations for account "Chalenge." Every little bit helps.
