No this way Citabria, no this way.

I post this in defense of an insulted squaddie.

We had several encounters with Citabria last nite.

My squad and me were attacking V41 by air and land and the nmy was defending it.

I went for a CAS sortie in a Thyphie with rockets to support my buddies on the ground and I found myself turnig on the deck of V41 with two nmy's, Typhie and F4U, who jumped on me from above. After a very tight turns with the vertical hills too close, I was killed by Citabria.

He showed a very high skill and I made a joke on ch.1 to recognize his ability, though they were 2 vs 1.

The next sortie on V41 I managed to perform my strafing run and I got two kills in one pass, a F4U just landed and an nmy vehicle. One of the killed was Citabria.

I celebrate this on ch.1 as a few minutes before I had showed my respect to this pilot. (btw, as I was typing a was downed again, lol).

Just the next sortie I was on the way V41 and there where two of my squaddies planes and a red dot, the nmy got one but the other rook, passao, got him, he was Citabria.

In this moment Citabria yelled in ch.1: "Bastards", and inmeditely left the arena.

Is it Bastard to kill you Citabria?,
You only can kill 2 vs. 1 and not pretending be Bastard yourself?

Everybody recognise your skill, you were killing Rooks in Ostie, Typhie, 109, etc. You were killed too several times.
The coments in my squad ch was that you was good in any ride.

But your ego couldn't stand one more death and with inmature behavior left the arena insulting, without the courage to see the reactions.
like a coward.

We got V41 shortly after, you may be had 20 to 1 kill ratio last nite but you left the arena insulting and clearly upset: you were the LOSER.

May be you are worried about the fact that you are "only" number two in the score list this tour, everybody knows you are a great pilot in AH, but maybe not all know that you are too a perfect amazinhunk. :P

Merry Chritsmas to the huge majority of fair players

Ease up on Citabria just a bit, edan.  Everyone has a bad night once and a while, one where things that normally would not bother you really get under your skin.
I have flown against (and been slaughtered by.....) Citabria, and from what I have seen, when you see that mood from him, there is more to it than meets the eye.
He is far from being the only one to let his emotions come out on the open channel......I have seen other elite pilots do the same.  Usually, it is when they are outnumbered and getting killed in situations in which they "normally" win, even 2,3,4, or even 5 vs 1........
The holiday season does this to folks, also.  Christmas is not a happy time for everyone.
Get to know Citabria better........he is NOT a loser.  Looks like he just had a bad night.  Don't let one experience taint your image of someone.  Watch and see how they react on other nights......you will see that "most" of the pilots in AH, while they may taunt you to death, are really pretty good guys (with a few exceptions    )
Merry Christmas to all!

Dunno what exactly was said Edan but your first quote, "He showed a very high skill and I made a joke on ch.1 to recognize his ability, though they were 2 vs 1."  What kind of joke can you make here?  Something like, "Great job....lucky you had a wingie there?"  Im not saying you said this but I dont know HOW many times Ive seen this scroll by.

Next you said you celebrated your next kill on ch.1.  Why would you do this?  Do your kills come that rarely that you got too overzealous and cheered on Ch1 instead of Ch2?  That ALMOST sounds like you were taunting but again, Im not accusing you of anything since I wasnt there

Perhaps Cit got a little carried away but from what I've read of your post, I think your comments could almost be interpreted as rubbing his nose in it...even if that was not your intent.

Unless you REALLY want to piss someone off, do not celebrate their death on ch1...salute their skills...thats it.

Unfortunately I have to agree with dingy. Channel one should only really be used to celebrate and salute other members of the community or just to chat with other people about things that are going on. From what you have said in your post it does sound a little like you where rubbing his nose in it.

I have been flying online in communities like this for 5 years and everyone has there ups's and down's. That is what makes us human. I do not know Citabria personally but only by reputation and in the way he presents himself. He is a very popular, upstanding and fair member of the community (most of the time) But we all have our bad days. (even me)

I am sure you didn't mean to put it quite the way you MIGHT have done on channel one. But just look at what you have read before you hit then enter key. It could save ya a lot of trouble.

Dingy Cit has been known to fly off the handle w/o anyone saying a word to him about anything.  But when someone kills him you can't expect to not crow about it some.  It's not that often one of us lowly wannabes who really suck get a kill on him, right cit?

all I gots to say is that his day is coming

But he do not hesitate to fight with this aventage too, I have nothing to say if I'm killed by 2,3,4, or 20. Why an supposed ace?.

Well first "joke" was: "Citabria is overmodelled, Pyro should do something about", that from my latin point of view is a great compliment and recognition ofhie skill, I didn't mention that I was killed BY TWO (one the great Citabria) and I was alone aloft. After that many possitive commnets were posted.

When in the next run (by chance)I killed him I told on ch.1 "Hey, now I'm overmodelled too, I downed Citabria!!!".
That too from my point of view is, again, a cumpliment to Citabria. I used ch.1 because I wanted him to know, in a friendly manner, as the first time.
I'm not pissing off anybody, this was exactly the contrary.
I recall in WBs the names of "corpes" where plubicied.

Betown wrote:

As said before, was, until his insult, the contrary. ch.1 is also a place where to express respect for others and to add a topping of fair humour to make the game funnier, it is boring and too serious sometimes up there, isn't it.

Anyway, an "ace" is greater if he is generous and humane and do not pretend to look the rest of mortal beings from his stand, insulting when one gets him.

Now we KNOW a little better your beloved hero.

It is said.
AMEN.

There is another MMP game out there that does not make your opponent anonymous and vice versa.  Further, if a guy is having an exceptional tour, his success is displayed right next to his callsign/tag in the form of Ace Stars.  On top of that, you can tell when any pilot is coming into or is leaving an arena. ("so-and-so just left after I whacked him...hehehe")

Most of you can imagine the dynamics that result from these 'capabilities' to include:

'Hunting loudmouths'
'Getting Even'
'Persecution'
'Gang-chasing for hours'
'Ace-Killing'
'Flak Bunnies' (Guys who are attached to their stars)

All of these little games-inside-the-game are quite boring and in the end drives off the more serious on-line pilots.

Where to they go?  Those in my situation came here.  Try to imagine my joy at seeing an aircraft-type and distance tag instead of a call sign like 'God-Killer-salamander'.  You can never know how empowered and contented I feel when I type ".squelch 1 in my radio slot.  I do it just before my first take off.

I can be insulted and complained-about all night and I never know it.  I know there is whining and wimping going on because I hear some of my Squadron mates and colleagues mention it from time to time in ICQ and on the Private Squadron board.  But I never see it and life is good.  I understand that others want to promote the goodwill and true spirit of the community in the arena during play.  My opinion is that attempted communication + the emotion of the moment will never add up to anything constructive. I would be just as happy if there were no Channel 1.

Ronnie runs a great board here.  It could be called "Channel 1" for my money, and we could reclaim some bandwith in the arena.

This has got to be one of the healthiest communities in on-line gaming.  All of us can be proud of contributing to that in our own ways.

Feliz Navidad Y Prospero Ano!

Also, bear in mind that just saying "bastard" can be a well meant joke. As in "dammit you got me good" kinda expletive.

If he was pissed and meant it, then be glad he left with just that. Ive seen (and participated..and originated *embarrasment*) some that have gotten QUITE ugly.

Feliz Navidad y que tengas un buen aņo nuevo!

Citabria seems to be quite score oriented Edan, way more than some and he is good.

He also handles both facts poorly in my opinion so do not let what he says on ch 1  bug ya, just like he ain't going to let what I think bug him.

I have had some probs with cit.
In my experence he will talk 1 to 1 with you.
Either to chastize or praise you. Unless you bring it on ch1 he won't.

As far as him being a someone who argues. I have seen worse.

You have to realize with heavy flying guys get a little goofy. I remember it being called aw ass. Im not sure what it would be called here AH ass?

Anyways cut him some slack. Fact is he's hunted. Every day a new gunfighter steps up to see if they can take him down a peg.

Being in this position sucks so if you get a arguement with him remember he's on the defensive for a reason.

Flight siming can end up being a big arguement once you get good. Citabria could be far worse.

the typhy vulched me as I hit the tower button after ditching at a vbase.

then I was in a 2 v 1 in the canyons in a 109f4 against a p51 and an fw190. i hit the p51s engine and he stayed in the fight desperately trying to kill me with no intent of returning to his own territory. I hit the 190 in a stall climb with over 30 20mm cannon rounds in his right wing and all he lost was an aileron.
I dogfought these two avoiding canyon walls and saw the p51 was w/o power so i did a stall turn into a canyon wall to make him auger. well he augered but so did I about 5 seconds later because I simply screwed up and my wingtip scraped the hill. the 190 got a maneuver kill on me. at this point I got frustrated not because of them but because I screwed up and lost the fight because I screwed up compounded by the fact that the 190 should have died with the hits I landed gave the encounter a high frustration level.

"bastards" I said. then logged off.

sorry for the insult.

ussually have the sense to mute myself by cussing up a storm when somthing gets under my skin.

merry christmas

hmmm, what was that you called me on the local channel the other day cit?....

actually whatever I think about cit or anyone else, i try to keep it to myself. Some i really go out of my way to avoid. Getting all bent out of shape over it is no way to handle it and it doesnt project the image i want. But because of the level of competition and the competitiveness of some of these guys, its bound to happen. Just stop and think before you type, you will be the better person for it.
