I guess the developers are attempting to drum up some support/funding so they can complete DNF.  I can't say  i was that impressed with the footage, considering it took 12 years work.

Being a fan of D3D i would probably buy it for nostalgia alone.

The game is 64% complete.  It would be silly for 3DRealms to sit on it and let it die without trying to raise investment capital to finish it off and to fend off the lawsuits from Take Two which has the publishing rights to DFN.

I *wish* someone would remake Shadow Warrior. Dunno if you guys ever played that one, but I believe it was also a 3dRealms game kind of in the same vein as Duke Nukem.

If the rumors are true, then an additional 7 years development time fits their plans perfectly in making DNF the longest developed video game in history.

I'm trying to decide which would be better: DNF coming out now and totally SUCKING, or if it turns out to be the most awesome piece of awesome ever in the whole history of gaming.

If it sucks, DNF is guaranteed to be the butt of gaming jokes for at LEAST another decade and much hilarity shall ensue. But if it totally rocks everyone who was making fun of it before will be like "Yeah, it took a long time but DAMN it was worth the wait!"

If you believe the rumors, that was the intent of the higher ups at 3DRealms.  As the rumor goes, they conspired with some of the top guys at Epic to delay the development of DNF so that it would be the longest developed game in history and the best game ever made.  They wanted people to say what you wrote about it being the most awesome of awesome games and it was worth the decade+ it took to develop it.
