My kingdom for a B-25H!
« on: January 08, 2001, 12:10:00 PM »
If the currently talked about "adjustment" of the radar to allow NOE flights to go undetected happens, there will finally be a reason to bring my favorite plane to AH.

Think about it: 75mm field gun, Rockets, Parafrags, Skipbombing....*Sigh*

If you've never flown a B-25H NOE, you just haven't lived.

lol. you read my mind. A flight of H's would be devestating to a fleet if they came in on the wave tops and all fired as they came thru on the CA or CV

Ya we really need another %$#*#!* US plane, no matter how cool it may be, and it is a cool one. I think fair is fair and the US planes are hear in abundance, the pro US player's plate overflowith a wee bit I think, at least till they add some stuff for the other countries.

Agreed, Brady. A Ju88 or a Hs126 with a PaK75 would be as good as a B-25H. BOth non-modelled before. And both with powerful guns.

And both...non US

This is what you really need

A Mosquito FB Mk.XVIII "Tse Tse", armed with a 57mm cannon (the barrel of the 57mm cannon is clearly visible)

- The four 20mm cannon were replaced by a single 57mm Molins cannon, which weighed 715kg and fired 6lb shells. Only two .303 guns retained, and additional armour was installed. These were originally intended as anti-tank aircraft, but because the 57mm cannon was obsolete in this role they were directed to Coastal Command.

Something else to consider; the Molins gun had an autoloader and in a typical attack the plane could get off four shots.  Each shot had a hit probability of 33% against tank-sized targets, so it could take out a tank on each pass.

It was probably the best WW2 big gun/aircraft combination, but the Mossie was too fragile to use in close support.

As much as I like the idea of a B25 (I too loved that in WB), since we do already have medium bombers for the Allied Opportunists & the LuftWaffles, how about a medium bomber from Great Britain or Japan?  Any Suggestions?

Ok, in the spirit of international relations, I'd settle for a Beaufighter first.

I also think that the Me410 would do a similar job very well.

It is easily one of the most versatile attack/zeroester planes that were made.

No one ever reads my posts   I was talking about this a several days ago. I love it banana! Isn't it cool! Great picture. Man how I'd love to be able to own something like that. Maybe the guys that own it would trade it for an extra arm I have hanging around.

A good bomber or attack plane for the Japanese would be a,Ki-102, or a Peggy or a P1Y2.
