They are folk who take a selective view of history and then try to apply it to their own ends.

They further take this selective view of history to argue that their future is the preferred future.

This future ignores all aspects of the present that may threaten its validity

we call them Politicians

but we here could call them Politic*nts.

as they would obviously talk out of an inappropriate orrifice anyway
