Widescreen Monitors
« on: May 31, 2009, 08:28:00 PM »
Any chance there is a way to play AH with a 24" flat screen with out it being rediculously stretched?  We run everything in 1920 X 1080 and the stuff we usually use works fine.  AH on the other hand is too stretched to be usable.  Tried upping setting to 1280 X 1024 and it still stretches out flat....  not fun.
I regret doing business with TD Computer Systems.

I thought they upped the resolutions to accommodate the Widescreens?   Also, check to see what the Native Resolution of your monitor is.   Some 24's are different in what they are "Happy" at.

Check display all resolutions to find your native resolution, and check widescreen mode.

Native is 1920 X 1080.  As it sits game is unplayable now.

Set the resolution in AH the same as your native resolution.  Make sure 'widescreen' is enabled and also if I remember right there is a box 'show all resolutions'... although I could be wrong about that one.

When you run a lower resolution on a LCD, it has to stretch the pixels out as the monitor isn't physically capable of running that resolution... which of course makes it look poor.

I play with a widescreen. Just go to video settings and set it to widescreen as others have said.

Do as everyone else has mentioned but, if AH doesn't support 1920x1280 for some reason then go into your video card control panal and turn off scaleing.  That will allow it to run without stretching but it may either run with a black border around it or it may clip part of the view to fit the monitor depending on your native resolution.

My comp runs 1920x1280 with no problems. So it is there in AH to do so.

Sounds like you don't have the widescreen checked.  Mine is just perfect although it is a 22"

You have availability to run AH in 1920 X 1080?

Not here for me.... what does one need to do to get that resolution?

Check the 'Show all resolutions' box in the video settings menu.

I selected show all resolutions and widescreen. I play at 1920X1200, same as the native resolution of my Samsung monitor.

I double checked. I run it at 1920 x 1200. I can back down to 1080. For me it's just a matter of going to display properties and selecting the desired resolution. I use an ATI 3850 card.
