New Vehicles in AH
« on: January 10, 2001, 02:17:00 PM »
I am very impressed with the PT Boat and the gun availability on the ships and airfields.  I think that AH is opening up an entirely new area of play for some people that may not be as interested in the flying aspect as most are.

I wonder is someone can help with a couple of questions?

First, is there any way to concentrate all the guns on the PT boat on one target and fire them all at once??

Also, how does one set the aerial bursts on the large anti aircraft guns?

Appreciate any information.

Many thanks.

Good question and I dont know.  Its seems that both dual .50 mounts fire together.

Also, how does one set the aerial bursts on the large anti aircraft guns?

These are proximity fuses.  They will detonate when they get close to the target.
Dont know how close but from what I see they appear to detonate within 100 feet I would hazard to guess....

You can somehow set the proximity fuse, but I tend to keep it at default.  Good balance of ease of shooting vs. doing damage to the plane.

You can set the guns to "mass fire" mode by going into the key or stick mapping. You'll see several assigned keys under the "Gunner" section, but there's one labeled "Fire All". Map that to either a key or a button on your stick (got mine on my stick) and you're set. Just aim the guns at a target, and hit that button. In the case of the PT-Boat, all four .50 calibers and the 20mm will open up. The larger guns won't fire in this manner. In a bomber, this will cause every gun that can "see" the target to fire.

It sounds as if there could be scope for increasing the firepower.  Many PT boats had 37mm M4 cannon taken from P-39 aircraft fitted to them, and a few even got the 37mm M9, a belt-fed version of the Army's high velocity AA gun.

The PT boat has three gun postions (well, five, but three positions are slaved together as one).

1. The .50 cals and the 20mm all fire together.

2. The 37mm up front that Tony was asking for, but somehow didn't realise we already have.  It fires alone.

3. The single 40mm Bofors on the back of the boat.  It also fires alone.
