I have noticed too that bad things are not limited to cursing. I have witnessed some gay bashing and ethnic slurs repeatedly being typed and spoken.

Really? That is......kinda disturbing if they have not been baned or at least soundly punished. I would hope they have their accounts locked for at least a month.

While I do agree with you on the bad language this post reads like a UN Resolution.

As an adult I try to watch my language, though I do let things slip sometimes on squad vox.  Watch your language on range gentleman, and by all means do not tune direct to someone for a curse word filled rant.  This is just absurd.

Work on your grammar before anything else.

Followed by...

Noone called...

Strikes me as kind of funny...

But anyway...  If I found myself being bothered by the PM rants with foul language, I think I'd do the report thing, followed by an email to HTC describing the problem.  I'm pretty sure that the report feature gives HTC the info they need, but an email probably wouldn't hurt.

Clone155, Your intentions are good man but as it's been pointed out several times already, simply auto record your flights, properly name them for cataloging, report them to HTC and then follow it up with a detailed email to HTC explaining the situation.

Good Luck,

i had one guy complain about a cuss i used "G" dammit. the very next day i useded it & got a 10 min auto mute. so i guess either he got allot of shades to multiply complaints or HTC will cave in to a loud whiner. :)

+1 On the bad language is wrong period.

Those of you who think we parents should all play with headsets is a pretty lame suggestion. Either your trolling or you're completely blind to the fact that the person with the headset on my in fact be a child.

 :salute

I'm not saying that it doesn't suck that a kid can't pop on here and just enjoy AH w/o hearing garbage.  I guess I'm just not blind to the fact that language has not and cannot be policed on range.  Sure you can report someone after the fact, but in the short time I've been playing, I have yet to log on w/o hearing rules being violated everytime on text and voice.

Would it be nice if it there was a more effective way than recording and reporting?  Yes.  Will it happen.  No.

It may be upsetting to you and even HTC that the game has this element in it, but until its gone, I still think headphones would be the way to go if you don't want your kids to hear Dada's game buddies.

If you don't want your kid to hear that stuff while playing then don't let him log on...or he will.

Some of the worst language I have ever heared was from playing CoD.
SOME, not MOST. Ive played CoD 4 and WaW online by my lonesome, sure, theres not "perfect" language like some may like. but just like on AH you have an option to not listen to them. on AH, squelch, on xbox live, unplug your headset or click the mute button. I don't see how a game will ever have perfect language where people wont swear.

What parent would play this with speakers on knowing they cant sqeulch everyone in range or squad?  I guess you can turn down voice playback, but why not just wear headphones.

I am always apologizing to Buster03 when we get out of line.  He plays on 60" in his livingroom when he isn't overseas like now.

He'd be the last person to report anyone though.  Most of the time his kids aren't staring at Daddy playing his game.  Maybe y'all should hire a baby sitter if you can't raise your kids and play AH. You buncha (Image removed from quote.)

 :salute

No Kids here.....But Language is supposed  to be monitored anyway, and the slip or squad channel is one thing but to have someone tune to your private channel and use foul language just because he can. I don't let no man or woman talk to me like that in real life, I'm sure not going to put up with it here, and I don't expect any person would !!!!! It's not that bad language is being used it's how it's being used that I think the OP is trying to get at.

and your right, if you have small children I suggest head phones and its a shame they have to be used because of this reason.

I have a son and daughter, ages 10 and 13.  They're probably past the "little kid" stage, but I've been playing for about 8 years so they were "little" when I started.

I can see why some would be concerned about "bad" language, even though I've found it to be pretty rare that it's bad enough to be a concern, IMO anyway.  I wear headphones, so it's never been an issue in my house.

Beyond that, I do find a certain irony in the idea that it isn't ok to allow a child to hear bad language, but it is apparantly ok for them to watch/participate in a game that simulates shooting/destroying/killing...  Even if the kids just see "pops" shooting the "bad guys", is that really better than having them hear/learn/repeat a "bad" word?

Given the choice, standing back and looking at the two as seperate, we might be better off to switch the two around.  Allow the kids to hear/speak the bad language, but get mad if they're exposed to a bunch of people simulating warfare.

It would also be inconsistent for me to get mad if they're exposed to bad language while I play the game, when they'll likely hear the same language at school, at the store, and/or while dad's out "fixing" the car or paying bills.

And actually, having my kids hear it while I'm playing might be for the better.  At least that way it happens in a situation where I can explain why some people think it isn't "appropriate" and why I don't think they should use language like that.  If it happens when I'm not around, I don't have that option...

And beyond that, I think there's a certain "regional" or "social class" difference in how/what language is considered "normal" or "offensive".  In my normal day-day life, a lot of "bad" language is the "norm".  To not use it would stick out as much as it would if I did use it in other situations.  I almost speak a different language when I'm at home or out in public, or with my parents.  In game, the language I use on private vox with friends can be radically different than the language I use on "range" vox, or on private vox with people I don't know very well.  That could easily give people I don't know a much better opinion of me than I deserve.  A kind of "language disguise", hehe!
