I'm Enlisted! HOOAH!!!

I enlisted 11X Infantry. Got a $7,000 bonus, GI Bill, the 8 year contract, 3 years and 16 weeks active duty then 4 years 36 weeks Reserve unless i choose to go active again, shipdate 20100719. Fort Benning, Georgia for 14 weeks of sweat, pain, and fun!

If the people on my preivous post were wondering, the only options that were avalibe for me to choose since i am doing a DEP enlistment for a year was

88M Motor Transportation
21B Combat Engineer
14S Air Defense Artillary

Did you type in the date correctly? You aren't going to boot camp until July 2010? You do realize that the summer at Benning isn't really wonderful.

ya the date is right, I enlist in DEP for a year, since this coming year i'll be a senior in high school, July 19th was the latest date i could ship and get a bigger bonus. The laison cousnulor said that she worked in Fort Benning for 4 years, she said that it'll be miserable in july and most of august but it'll cool down once we hit september, and i'll be there for 15weeks. so i'll finish sometime mid/late October i believe.

ya, I should beable to get to E-3 BEFORE i ship! All i got to do is get 1 referal for someone to join to get to E-2 and then i need to pass a easy PT test and a basic army knowlege test to rank up another!

I got to Benning the first week of August.  So humid you can actually see the air move when you wave your hand out in front of you.  It has a distinct smell that I can still remember too, and I started there in '95.  The good thing about starting in the summer is the temp gets better as the runs & road marches get longer. You'll FTX (camping with guns) in December and freeze your butt off actually.

That's just anywhere deep South.  It's not the roaches, it's the skeeters.  It's ok though, they haven't killed anyone yet.....this year.
