Climb speed chart for Tempest

Anybody have one??

Anybody have any performance docs for this bird?

From what I gather so far it may be the king of the hill of all of the "perk" birds below 20K. Very similar performance to F4U-4 except with 4 20mill Hispano's and a very good handling plane as well.

From what I can gather it is also roughly the same size.

9,000lbs empty.
12,000lbs loaded approx.
Wing span 41Ft
Wing area 302ft
legnth33.8ft
Max speed 435MPH@17,500FT
Climb 5 min to 15,000FT
Armament 4 20Mill Hispano cannon

Restricted speed below 12,000FT.
540MPH IAS Considerable higher than the P-51D.

This bird will be almost untouchable below 20K if flown properly. Save your points!!

Oh my goodness! Are you correct? 392 mph at sea level? Thats gonna beat the F4u4 as it only brings in 381 mph at sea level. Wow..i'm breathless. That is amazing...

Exactly Verm,

That's why I don't care about the C-Hog. If we get a F2G and F4U-4 it won't matter. The other three possible American perks are the F8F-1, P-51H and P-47N/M.

With those stats why did it start as an interceptor and then get put into the ground attach role. Is there something in the flight characteristics that would cause it's change in role? Does it's performance drop of markedly with altitude?

Ground attack.. well likely no lw's left in the air, and every allied aircraft became attack aircraft.
Tho, are you sure you not thinking about the Typhoon Jim?

Tempests made a living shooting down V1s and Me262s.  (They had around 20 262s to their credit by the end of the war.)

Yes, sorry I got the two swapped around in my head. Ignore the first reply please.   Thx
I have to warn you all to stop talking about it. It will be perked if we're not carful.   Sand bag it a little when you fly it ok. Shhh

Just another plane that would be pretty much imposible to have without the perk system..
Hail Perks! Is that like 50mph faster then many of the birds in the game at SL?

Tempest is a definite Perk aircraft.  The Typhoon no.

Nice to see that like in R/L things come around again at the start of the war the brits had the best fighter in the form of the Spitfire, and then at the end they had the Tempest.

Horses for courses Marco, the Tempest would have been pants for escorting bombers
