Flak at 20K?
« on: June 08, 2009, 03:51:10 PM »
Ok... Ive only been playing about 3 months... but I dont recall flak ever reaching up to 20,000 feet.  But it sure did today.  Am I wrong, or did the Unmanned AA guns get serious upgrade?

I believe the unmanned puffy ack will reach up to any altitude, be it within the 'radius' of the enemy base.

I will agree with this when it is revamped a bit.  Right now bombers never seem to get hit while fighters get one shot more frequently than they should.

In WWII the B-17s flying at 35K would get hit by AAA.....so, yes, it's possible

And yes... I have noticed that bombers rarely get hit by the puffy flak... and even when I have, it hasnt been bad.  Guess I have been lucky.  Thanks for the info guys.

Puffy ack tags your ID i guess you could say. Once it starts shooting at you it never forgets as long as your able to keep flying for that sortie.

I thought the range was 15k but could be wrong. I do know that auto puffy will not shoot at you unless your above 3k. Once you pop above that alt though, it will immediately start shooting at you again no matter who is closer or higher. In other words, it will shoot right past the guy who was not tagged yet to try and kill you first. The only way to beat it is to get out of it's range or re-up in a new plane.

I think it goes as high as you do, but can only go 15k horizontally.  It just shoots you as long as your the first one in range.  If you're being shot at, hop out of range, wait til it shoots someone else, then come back in.  Although once that person goes out of range it will come back to ya.

Wrong. As soon as it tags you it does not matter who is closer to the cv. It will keep firing till your out of range, below 3k or dead.

Once out of range and it finally stops shooting at you, if at anytime you decide to come back into it's range it will start shooting at you again.... even if there are people closer to it...... unless of course they have also been tagged, then it will shoot at both of you.

CV puffy ack never forgets.
