Stuka dive bomber
« on: June 09, 2009, 10:33:21 AM »
Are there any chances to get the divesound when you dive with the Stuka dive bomber?

And several fighters did have mirrors in the cokpit so the pilot had the upportunity to check 6.
Are there any chance that we can get that too? P51-D Mustang and spits did have check 6 mirrors :salute

Man you need to read a little before going all crazy with these........

But YES, there are sound packs for the Stuka!  That's the rumor anyways.

Rearview?  Nope.

The version of the Stuka we have didn't have the Horns of Jericho dive sirens, they were removed in later versions as the psychological impact was eventually lost and they served only as a warning. You can still get a soundpack that replaces the wind sound with a siren sound, although it's not realistic.

Mirrors were useless in real life, and according to Hitech Creations would halve frame rates so they won't likely happen.

I call BS, im more than sure that AT ANY WAY to see behind you was a GREAT help no matter what.

And as for the FR... MY GOD... if your computer cant handle AHII you need an upgrade and don't give me the economy BS excuse, Video cards on newegg are only 150 bucks for a very decent card with 512mb vid memory, and if you cant afford that then the 180 bucks you fork out for AH probably needs to go into your car for gas to drive to a better job.
It is 2 Cents or .02 Dollars...NOT .02 Cents!

The field of view from the mirrors was so small, coupled with the vibration of the aircraft, that the only thing that they were useful for was for telling you that it's time to strap on your 'chute because it's time to bail.
I recall a Luftwaffe ace, I think it was Rall or Galland, saying that by the time someone was close enough and in the right position to be visible in your mirror it was too late.

Although, I'm sure you're more familiar with the use of mirrors in combat than someone with 275 aerial victories, or someone with 104 aerial victories and who was head of the Jagdwaffe, respectively.

As far as frame rates go, according to HTC for them to work properly you'd have to render the entire environment twice, which would literally cut your framerates in half. I run Aces High fine at 60 fps, but 30 would really suck.

It isn't THAT bad, just stay away from enormous furballs, butt-loads of ack, and knit-land HQs. Basically, follow the same principles as when you have a 40 kb/s internet connection (guilty).

20 is only starting to suck.  12 (and, say 7) really sucks.

I've read that the human eye can't distinguish anything over 30 fps, and that is why it is the default settings for programs such as Fraps.  Could be wrong but it makes sense, as long as it's a solid 30 fps.  Btw, I've also given the Stuka a dive siren in my sound pack.
