Windows RC7

Hey guys,

I was wondering if any one has tried running Aces High 2 on Windows RC7 and what were the results.
Please let me know

It's running fine. A little lower fps than in XP but OTOH windows 7 doesnt seem to suffer from sound related stutters like XP does.

what MrRipley has said x's 2......... except I have not suffered any FPS loss, and I have actually gained in my monitor max resolution from 70 hz to 75 hz @ 1280 x 1024.....and it hovers around 75 to 71 constant in Windows 7 RC1.............only draw back is in windows7 if I go in and max out all settings like antialising  and antostrophing (<spellings) and all other settings MAXED, it will lose video input after 40 or so minutes.  AA x8  antistrophing x16  on an Ati HD 3870 TOP 512meg DDR4 ASUS card using 9.4 drivers.... I have the 64bit win7 version installed.......

if I drop the settings back to 1/2 or less on each setting, I experience no problems at all......is flawless  and my framerates are identical to my winXPpro SP3 32 bit that uses nothing but the display driver ( I have ATI TrayTools loaded but disabled )

edited NOTE - if I Max out my settings using ATI Traytools in Win XP pro, it does not affect my videocard or lose video.....it just lowers the fps I am able to obtain....... I could overclock ( I actually have to see how far it would go, which is quite impressive )my videocard in both WinXppro & Win7 RC1 but there is no need to overclock anything really......... I can easily overclock my CPU, my memory & my video card, but there is no need since it performs well as is.......

Just a note that in game my fps is steady 59fps (locked to refresh) but in the graphics test tool my fps was 250 in XP and 200 in Win7 x64 using the same hardware.

This sounds to me like you are overstressing your video card and it is shutting down due to heat.  If you haven't already done so I would suggest downloading and installing Riva Tuner and use it to set your video card fan speed to 65-70% minimum constant speed.

yes Doc, I use (at times) ATI Tray Tools on my XP  partition, but have not converted it to Tray Tools on the Win7RC1  partition yet.....will be doing that when I get time and remember it.....I totally hate the Full Load CCC/Driver package and that is what I currently have on the Win7 partition..

I don't think it is over stressing the vidcard...... heck the 4 120 mm fans and the 240mm top fan along with the Memory heatsink spreaders (that come with this MB type) disipate the heat very well... when loaded heavily using a couple open windows of Autocad 2009 MEP and having internet browser open and some graphic programs open running , with WMP11 blasting out tunes or if I have Reason 4.0 crunching some audio mixing/filtering stuff,  my Processor & MB temps are steady under 42deg. C...and my vidcard is around 37 to 38.......

I think it is more a glitch in the Win7/Vista/XP 64 bit drivers currently....... Temps vary roughly 4 to 7 degrees higher on the VC, if I max the vidcard settings out....

will see if the Tray Tools switch helps it any........ got to remember that there is still alot of unavailable 64 bit drivers..... is a tedious constant updating search for new improved drivers & codecs

NOTE to BE - not sure if you missed it, if I max the VC out with ATI Tray Tools in WinXPpro it does not affect it or lose video......if I max the settings out using Win7 RC1 64bit ver with the 9.4 ATI CCC 64 bit drivers, it goes blank screen around 40 or so minutes... but an instant reboot and its right back good again......
backing them down in Win7 to around 2/3rds or 1/2 there are no problems........but I am almost certian it is not a heat issue..........btw my VC fan is manually set to 100%........ ( all fans are manually set to this..........now perhaps and this just popped in my noodle.......you think with all my hardware that I might be losing or  might not have enough available power when I max it out in Win7?  but why would it not go blank screen in Win XP? hmm........the rest of the pc setup is:
ASUS DVD DL RW Burner with Lightscribe  SATA type
ASUS DVD-Rom Drive  SATA type
9 in 1 card reader with Floppy drive.....
Dell ULTRA Sharp 19" LCD Monitor

I use my Fluke Laser Temp Reader to shoot instant temps all over the MB, memory, vidcard, processor, N bridge / S. Bridge etc..HD's... to take C & F temp readings....and compare them to what the OSD utility shows....just to see how accurate it is being.usually with in a degree of what it says.....

Definitly not a power issue with a 750W PCP&C PSU.

In build 7000 at least (havent checked after that) my video driver would crash every time I opened any built in game (chess) or WMP. Using third party games or players didn't crash it.

im using win7 x64 v7100 (and a few previous vers as well) i find the game runs better under win7 than XPpro although fps has dropped a bit from XP but the game seems a lot more stable. i got the nvidia settings turned up with no problems and the best thing ive found is my X52 is less problematic with win7 than XP using the driers from win update.

that could be my problem then........ I have not let it do any updates, although I know several newer versions have been released since the initial one back in May 5th when it went public beta........ will check it out, Thx Ripley........

my problem has been fixed....... I updated my Ati Display Driver to the newest current Ati 64 bit driver .........

no more vidcard signal lose  when settings are maxed out in all categorys.......

must have been a glitch somewhere in the 9.4 drivers is all I can think of.......

Glad to hear.  Something just didn't sound right as I read your post.

Out of curiosity, are you guys who are running AH doing so "native" on RC7- or are you using XPM?
