Simconnect, FSUIPC, or something similar.
« on: June 11, 2009, 11:48:15 AM »
For those of us nuts that like the full immersion of a SIM cockpit, external gauges, multiple monitors, etc.

Many of you have seen the first iterations of my sit down sim pit but I have continued to add features including the newly released instrument panel sixpack and Switch Panel from Saitek. You can see them here:

http://www.saitek.com/uk/prod/proflight.htm

The work great with Microsoft Flight Simulator X, but they are not supported with Aces High. Simconnect, FSUIPC, or something similar would not only allow me to use all of these wonderful new products coming out in the simpits I design and build, but it would also allow for dedicated views on multiple monitors (Think of building a canopy out of flat panels with each one showing the appropriate view.

I'm sure this exists in some form due to the force feedback support that is built into the code. How can I tap into that system?

I'd love to have something working for the next Con in October.

I would definitely enjoy something of the sort being implemented. There is a lot of hardware out there that can heighten the immersion-factor of the game if it could only make sense of the game's data. If a system such as the ones listed above were available for Aces High it would allow that hardware to work with the game greatly increasing immersion possibilities.

I think the true beauty of Aces High is that you can treat it as a game or a full on simulation. It's your choice. I started playing it, now I experience it and learn from it. It's all what you make of it. The lessons I have learned in flight dynamics and manuevers help me fly in real life, so the more real I can make it, the better.

It says it ships with an SDK, if you knew the relevant parts of AH's code could you make a program that could make the two compatible?

Of course the odds of us getting that coad are slim to none, but not without good reason of course :).

I think mensa has it, i'm very doubtful that HTC will allow anyone to see the coad at such a low level, or allow any hooking of aces resources, it'd be nice, but don't hold your breath

Even if HTC didnt mind the source code being viewed your talking less than 1% of the player base.
