New Fighter stick not working right

Think I might of got a bad joystick. I just ordered a new ch fighter stick and it seems the X axis is off.  I have tryed to calibrate it in AH, Windows, and the control manger with no luck. When I pull back on the joystick it goes to full back in the game with out getting to the stop. Meaning I have a 1/4in of room to pull back. All other axis seem fine. Think I should send it back? Hard to fly with because I keep stalling everytime I pull back. Its going to be a great joystick though. My nose bounce its gone now if I could just fix this little issue.

Make sure the trim wheel for that axis is centered before you calibrate in windows. Other than that I don't know what it could be.

Mine was doing exactly that a couple of weeks ago.  Turns out the girlfriend's sister had come over and brought her kid while I was at work.  The kid messed with the stick and had moved the trim tab all the way over.  I recalibrated several times before realising that was the problem.  I felt both trim wheels by very slightly moving them back and forth feeling for the detent, it's just that the end of the wheel's travel felt like that detent.  I always double check them now.  I think Sik1 is right though, it's almost gotta be the trim wheel.

Im an idiot. That was it. I thought hey lets try once more. I didnt even relize there was another trim wheel on the right of the joystick. Centered it and recalibrated and now is all good. Thanks Guys

Just a note they are not trim wheels.the wheels on the right and bottom should be centered and left there. They are not for trim.
 Are you using the CH Manager? Make sure you calibrate in windows first and then game. If you are using the CH Manager then make sure your map is not loaded or turn off in CH Manager. You can not calibrate with map loaded.

Those two dials near the gimbals of a CH stick are referred to in CH Products literature as "trim wheels."   That's an unfortunate term because us aviation types can't help but think that means "aircraft trim" and we are tempted to try and use those wheels to trim our airplane.  A better choice of term might be "pot trim wheels" or something like that.  You see, this wheel is physically attached to the axis pot and can be used to center the pot (or equalize the travel of the pot to one side and the other). The problem with trying to use them for aircraft trim is once you've calibrated your stick and then you move one of these trim wheels, you throw off your calibration and it is very difficult to get the pot exactly where it was when you did the calibration.  The precision of these wheels is not that great and just the slightest movement can throw the pot off quite a bit.  It is my opinion that you carefully lock the trim wheels in their detent and never touch them again.
 
In truth, these trim wheels are a bit of a hold-over from the Gameport days where centering the pot was a legitimate issue.  Because of the way USB devices are designed, this is not that much of an issue anymore.  It is very rare that these USB sticks need any sort of pot trimming.
