Aircraft Speed Charts (Load time might be long)
« on: June 29, 2000, 10:44:00 AM »
Vermillion got me to wondering so I put together a speed chart of all the AH planes.  These figures come right off the HTC web page, but are all put on one chart for easier comparison.

(Note: There is still no data available for the Spit IX or the P-47D-30)

All Planes

Top MA competitors

American

British

German 109 Series

German 190 Series

Italian

Japanese

Russian

Early War

I find this fascinating.  If any one wants a direct comparison let me know.  I can easily do it for them.

Good Luck!

What Daff and Westy did not read?

I'll put the Spit IX and the P-47D-30 up as soon as HTC does.

Mino, as i said in another thread, the better comparison it's with speeds without WEP, the speed of a plane on WEP is indicative only for 5 minuts, presuming his engine is'nt already hot for combat use.

Example, i used last week the Yak-9U, and i found it on the deck faster than any plane, including the p51, after they have used the 5 minuts warp speed ("warp 5, mr. Sulu").

Cut be very interesting to find the results of a long pursuit between two planes, considering the WEP burned up.

Try it, you'll be surprised.

Naso, nothing personal, but I think your wrong.

Short term maximum speed is what usually determines if you can extend and exit a fight or not.

Most people I know, keep their WEP (at least the BnZ pilots of whom we are speaking) for the purpose of the extension.

The only time you see that "long chase" of which you speak, is if two similar plane types are fighting, or those rare cases where two different aircraft have similar performance at a particular altitude.

Otherwise, even with a small difference in speed, acceleration, or initial E state , the matter is quickly ended with the death of the defending pilot, or he extends enough distance to make it back to friendly aircraft which can cover him.

In 9 out of 10 of my "long chase" situations, its actually a case of me intentionally keeping the seperation just close enough to keep the chasing pilot interested to drag him to a friend for an easy kill.

Just my opinon though

mmm... i see....

Yes, seems a correct idea, vermillion.

Maybe the pilots i got in this long chase situations where just dweebs  , or they dont had time to reach friendly help  .

BTW i understand generally speaking you're right.

p.s.
Why i have to take it personal?
If i'm wrong, i'm wrong, there is nothing bad in this.
