Ode to the Messerschmitt [190kb pics]
« on: January 13, 2001, 04:06:00 AM »
Greetings aces,

Lately I found back to my old love the Me109 - my favourite horse out of the Messerschmitt stable is the G6 right now, not least because of the new PerkSystem.

It's really amazing what that bird can do. I'd like to give you a few impressions out of my daily 109 life:

First series of pictures was taken yesterday when I managed to land a half-winged 109 for the first time. It's no problem in the Fw190 but usually I bail when this happens to me in the 109. The landing was adrenaline rushing but it worked. (you can grab the film on the bottom if ya want)

The second series is a carrier landing with my beloved G6 - no big deal but I just love the sight of a 109 on a CV!!! Pleeeeeeze enable them...    Well, seems like I tend to come home with major battle damage usually: rudder, elev and engine oil gone... but hey, that's my mechanics problem!

Very nice Kirin!   I tried likewise in a P-47 but half way down the flight deck my tail broke away and I ground loooped. Definatley takes some doing to get that 109 down with next to no visibility over that nose <S>

Landed an F4U with the entire left wing missing, and one night I rearmed a Tiff on the carrier about 6 times in the arena, keeping with the task group

Ground handling on the carrier deck can be a bit tricky

Getting the B-26 On board is tough as well. I have landed the B-26 with Full internal fuel and bombload, but have only successfully launched from the carrier with 3/4 internal fuel and a full bombload (The tail was dragging in the water part of the way on that one, but I managed to keep the props out, so she got up    ).

The P-38 makes pretty good carrier plane as well.
