Rescue of downed pilots
« on: June 18, 2009, 02:26:25 PM »
I did some searching and I didn't find anything like this that was newer than 1007 so either I'm not doing a good search or no one brought this up in a while so either help me correct my mistakes or no whining.

Well anyway, I thought it would be nice to be able to pick up downed pilots and make it so they don't count as "bailed" or "shot down" and they won't loose any perks, vids, or screen shots, or whatever they have. I want to be able to land my C47 near (like half a mile or so) a couple of downed pilots and pick them up; once I am in range a prompt could appear on screen like the accept join thing. It would also be cool to be able to drive by in a PT boat or an LVT or something. You could do it with a jeep or a half-track or whatever you want. Just think about it. Since it would ba a high risk job you could have the ammount of perks set to 5 or so times that of a normal sortie.

'Rescue of downed pilots' is about as common as B29, sub and nuke threads.

If I had to wait an hour before my next sortie for someone to pick me up.... I wouldn't.

I assume you fly a C47. And I do two. The only problem is that fighter jockeys seem to get annoyed at us if we as a question or even seem a LITTLE newb. Well anyway, it would be cool to land your C47, pick up a pilot while an Fw 190 makes a strafing run at you. You would win the screenshot contest with the ones you will pick up with that job. And the vids would be like something out of an action movie!

Twin Boom, what idid I say at the VERY top of my post? Ya, exactly. If I am typing in the wrong key words then feel free to suggest somehthing. And motherland same to you. BTW, you wouldn't HAVE to wait, that would be a TERRIBLE idea. You could just wait for like 5 or 10 min, maby a gv will drive by or a C47 will happen to fly by. Besides I bet you would wait if you had been flying the Me262.

Have you ever tried to get supplies for your GV? If no one from your squad is there, you likely have to wait 10-15 minutes to get someone to be gracious enough to drive 30 seconds for the spawn point to drop supplies for you. Not complaining about that btw.
Take this to being baled out anywhere on the map, it would easily take a half an hour to recruit someone to pick you up, and then fly the entire way in and back in a C47.

Besides I bet you would wait if you had been flying the Me262.
No.

Now how many more squeakers will annoy pilots passing by because they wish to redeem their two kills?

No, thank you.

No, you won't have to drive or fly all the way back, once you are in a vehicle you could just end flight, or would that cause you to loose screenshots and what not, I have never tried it. If you do the forget and you are right and we should just scrap this idea.

I have no clue what you're talking about. Nothing causes you to lose screenshots or film.

When you are captured by the enemy they take all your personal effects, including screenshots, films, and that dirty avi you hid in the system directory so your mother won't find it...

Lol, that's actually quite a good idea!
Afk for a year or so.  The name of a gun turret in game.  Falanx, huh?

Thank you Puck. I will put that to good (kinda) use!

And I was always under the impression that if you crashed or bailed you would loose all recorded videos and screenshots for that flight.

Drive 15 miles to bring supps to a flyin buddy?  I've done it, more than once!  Buddies have done it for me as well!  It's one of the "good" things in the game..
I'd even go to the point of making it a score category... What good are you, or your stinkin score, if you don't give a fatratpoop about anybody else?
THAT should show in your score as well!!! :aok

If we had the PBY, I'd play a session as Dumbo, setting a safe distance outside a local furball, picking up pilots who can't make it home... Saving their Kills, perks, scores...
If ya want the trip back, jump on... If ya don't, thats fine too, It's your decision!

Sometimes I play, and I'm not really in the mood for the high stress role.. Or, I'm on the phone alot, or for whatever reason, I'm not paying strict attn to the game...
I'd get some enjoyment out of helpin my Buddies, if they choose!!
