The "command channel" in FSO
« on: June 20, 2009, 01:12:20 AM »
The  "command channel" in fso is what the axis or allied commander ie "CiC" uses to direct the battle. The CiC does not use country channel. This channel is always indicated in the orders.

Anyone who fly's FSO needs to tune this channel. Not just the squad commanders but everyone. This way you will know what is going on in the battle.

Tonight I had several squads who were not aware of this channel and ended up flying around the whole time with no enemy contact. This caused some frustration among some squads.

The command channel is typically ch 150 for both sides. However the CiC can change this to whatever channel he wants. So be sure to check the orders.

 :salute

For those unfamiliar with FSO command channel: Pertinent information only. Text only- so info stays on screen a while. Use only if you are directed to by your squad's command staff by direct order or protocol.

The CiC may assume that anything typed on command channel is directed at him, so please limit to communications that involve the CiC directly or that he needs to monitor.

The CiC should take care to reply to a specific person or unit. Text does not appear in the same order for all. When more than one conversation is going on, yes and no answers can be missleading.

Damn I miss FSO......

I hate the 3 week breaks.

I am ready to fight.
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

Breaks have nothing to do with it. I don't fly FSO anymore because I left my FSO affiliated squad.  My new squad is only 5 members and we never have more than 3 on at once except the rare occasions.

You could try pre arranging a ride. I know you are used to being a CO, but the larger squads are use to having several Alpha types :)

I've done gun for hire a couple of frames.  Doesn't have the right feel. Plus not flying with the other 4 guys in my squad (whom I have flown with since I joined AH) doesn't feel right either.  Unfortunately no one wants  or should be expected to give up slots for regular squadies to support 5 vagabonds. Even though all 5 have been in FSO from the leadership perspective (XOs, COs, CiCs, etc).  *sigh* I'm ranting..... :frown:

Becinhu,

what could your guys commit to?  2, 3 players per frame?  If you could do that, I know that a couple of other FSO squads are made up of multiple-MA squads and may be willing to add another cohesive unit to their mix.

We could use some guys with the 412th. We're a 7-10 squad and average about 7 or 8 pilots every Friday. Let me know.

it would be from 1-5 guys. all experienced FSO sticks with leadership experience. But more than likely 1-3.
