Just watched this video and I'm floored by how great the game looks and the animations. Most of the video is in slow-motion, so you really see the details they put into the game. The guys at the end running on the street really shows how far animation has come.

Watch it in HD.

Oh dear...I just got myself addicted to Battlefield 2 a few days ago lol :P

I must have been living in a hole, I only heard of Arma sometime last week  :O

In defense of BF2, I can't say much for its realism, however in terms of super high-intensity and fun battles, it's the best game I've ever played...that said, I may go and look for a demo of Arma now =D
Afk for a year or so.  The name of a gun turret in game.  Falanx, huh?
Apparently I'm in the 20th FG 'Loco Busters', or so the legend goes.
O o

Bought the retail version, not via steam, came as v1.01.  Everything looked pretty good, good framerates, etc.  AI little....um....sharp but gameplay otherwise ok.

patch 1.02, released yesterday, has calmed down the supershot abilities of the AI and fixed some campaign bugs, however, now my graphics are messed up.  High LOD textures for an object get loaded on a random rotating wossname, I can be stood next to something looking at it and 30 seconds later the hi res texture gets loaded.  Look away, look back and it's low res again.

Distance seems to make no difference either, I can look at a tree in the middle distance and it'll be hi res, but the tree next to me will be low res and looking like it's a water colour painting.

Every time I make a change to the graphics setup the blur effect gets stuck on.

People on the official forums are all stupid.

No info available anywhere else.

And to go back to v1.01 I've gotta reinstall the game.

Swoop PM me and I can help you get the details sorted... Been playing around with it for a while now :)
Cheers

People cheating on multiplayer BF2 gets boring fast (even on the PB enabled servers).

Wont be getting it, just like half-life you have to have steam to play it. Steam is useless and has done nothing but become the red tape of pc gaming. Voting them off the island with the wallet.

Any time I've had a game even associated with steam
things go bad. I reformat my pc, forget steam password,
get a new email address. I become unable to use the game
I paid for eventually. call them or seek support and left with
the feeling of wanting to buy a shotgun, take some time off work,
maybe buy garbage bags?

With empire total war you can set steam to run in offline mode and never need a connection again. I think thats how it works anyhow. Oh, write your password down too :)
