Notification
« on: June 21, 2009, 10:30:26 PM »
Being in the Jokers, there are always people in the squad logging in and out. I am not constantly typing .sr so I think it would be helpful If whenever a squad member logs in or out, that there is a notification in the text buffer.

Ex. "SYSTEM: Mike254 has Logged into LW Orange Arena"

I like to know when my squaddies are on.  :aok

You need a smaller, more intimate squad.  Hoards are too hard to keep track of, aren't they?

Maybe have a squad standing order:
"Upon logging into any arena, type 'Howdy' on squad text channel.  Before leaving any arena, type 'Bye' on squad text channel."

Oh, you're right, I think I am just going to quit the squad. Thank you so much for your useful post. You seem to make these "useful posts" alot, I see them on just about every thread I read....

Of course, you definitely know how close and intimate we are, because you have spent so much time flying with us and on squad channel. Thank you for this amazing insight on something you don't know about.

So, when you log on, typing .sr and then maybe typing "Howdy" on squad channel is too hard?  You think it would be easier and more cost-effective for HTC to write a whole new subroutine just to save you 5 seconds?  Wow.

If you're squaddies don't care enough about flying together to let you know they've logged on with a simple "howdy all" and don't care enough to let you know they're logging with a "loggin. cya", then I would submit the comment about needing a more intimate squad is accurate. Asking HTC to code it so you or your squaddies don't have to even bother typing is just plain lazy. Next thing you know, you'll be wanting the gov't to pay for your health care!

This is not just a single squad that they are asking for ability to track.  Rather multiple allied squadrons.  Just to clarify.  Simple squad text will not allow this.  This has been asked for before, and I do support it.  Unfortunately it started one of the most infamous "Mega-Squad" threads, and I certainly do not want to see it go down this road again.  If I remember correctly HTC ruled on this one, and it is not going to happen.

In VF-6 we all shoot a <<S>> when we log in, both as a sign of respect, and so everyone knows your on.

I like the idea though.  :aok

If you take another look at the OP's original post, it can only be interpretted as applying to a single squad. Having said that, it would be of little help to the "multiple allied squadrons" (<-- is that the PC term for mega-squads these days?  :lol)

Try getting 30+ people to do that everytime they log on. What if they get discoed? Will they have time to say "c ya" then? I know nothing about subroutines or whatever, but we have notifications when skins arrive so I would think it would be similar. I don't really see why you are against it.

If you're squaddies don't care enough about flying together to let you know they've logged on with a simple "howdy all" and don't care enough to let you know they're logging with a "loggin. cya", then I would submit the comment about needing a more intimate squad is accurate. We fly together alot, don't make accusations. I didnt wish for this so that we didn't have to type to each other, it would be exactly the opposite. I know if i saw someone in my squad has logged on then I am going to say hello. I'm sure that goes for just about everyone.

If anyone has any real reason why we shouldn't have it besides "it will make you lazy" or whatever it is you are trying to get at, then let me know because I haven't seen one.
