Out of curiosity, are you guys who are running AH doing so "native" on RC7- or are you using XPM?

<S>

I never went in a checked it to run in WinXP capatibility mode..........

AH2 is a 32 bit program as far as I know...but is running under the the 64 bit Win7 , although Win7 has 2 folders one for 32 bit drivers and one for 64 bit drivers.......

Win7 also comes preloaded with Internet Explorer in both 32 bit & 64 bit flavors......( their is no 64 bit Adobe flashplayer, shockwave etc..at this time )

hope this helps......

XPM is different from "compatibility mode" - it's a Virtual XP system running inside your Windows 7 system, a license for which which will be (supposedly) included "for free" with the higher level W7 offerings.

More information about it in action can be found here -> http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2346464,00.asp Some mention in the evaluation was made of DOS games, but nothing was said about Direct X-based windows games.  (Or OpenGL, either for that matter).

Windows 64-bit systems have a 32-bit virtual layer that will run 32-bit apps directly without any special settings. The compatability mode changes the way the OS restricts the software and several other finer details in the interface.

The compatability mode is not required to run AH2 or most other programs.

XPM is meant for business users it can't handle directx games.

the only thing i did when installing AH2 was to install it to c:\games (treated it as vista)
i dont run in compatability mode or xpm.

Thx MrRipley - I didn't realize it wasn't DX compatible.  It requires VTS and the test machine here doesn't have it, so I couldn't test it on my prototype.

I think it is dx compatible per se but the performance (or so I've heard) will be substandard.

I'm running Windows 7 64 bit with everything default and it runs great. Previous was Vista 64 bit.
The system runs much smoother and gone are all of those small delays and stutters that you learn to live with under vista.
If you have trackir you'll have to update to version 5 (Free download)
If you have a saitek X52 you might have to update to the beta to get full functionality out of all of the switches.

I run win7 x64 and have no issues as of yet.

Only thing I did notice is no calibration settings for joystick, might need sep. drivers to do so as my stick is acting up bad.

I get more fps than I did in xp.
