Cant enter areanas in either version now, troble getting on forums as well

Installed the beta. installed Hi res pack. copied over my "settings" folder tot he beta.

Ran the game. Got into the arena no prob.
Took off everythign seemed fine.
Then the game closes and Windows firewall comes on telling me that its blocking AH.
So i tell it not to block.
Now I cant get past eh arena selection screen in either the beta or the regular version of the game.
It lets me log on I can see teh arenas and how many are in each in both versions.
But when I try to enter an arean in either version. Nothing happens for a couple minutes and I am returned to the log in screen.

Try going to the forums and it wont let me get in there either.
I can visit other portions of the site But not the forums.
Oddly enough I CAN enter the forums if I go through AOL. (Which is how Im managing t post this now )But not firefox or internet explorer.

Tried uninstalling the beta and no change
Also rechecked Windows firewall. HTC is listed as exceptions (allow)

Of the 3 machines I have in my home. this is the only one I cant acess the boards on

ok this is getting even more bizzare.
Seems one by one Im loosing my ability to connect to HTC.
Now I cant get to even the website on my gaming rig.
now not even through AOL.
I can however connect through my daughters machine. (I havent checked my wifes and sons yet)
No problems connecting ot any other websites. only HTC both the BBS and the game.
Still game wise I can see the arenas. If I click on an arena with numbers over the limits I get the "please select another arena" message.
If I click on an arena I should be able to get into. It basically locks up for a min. then returns me to the log in screen.

Im going to PM Skuzzy and ask him to Email me as if this continues I dont know if I'll be able to access the site at all on any of the machines before long.

did you try clearing your cookies etc?
Tried a good old fashioned reboot?

Try a ping plotter to the orange server , see what you get.

Yup. Tried all that. Several times LOL
I used the ping status available on the arena selection screen which showed my connecton to be pretty emaculate

Ok this is what I just sent over to skuzzy in response to a couple questions he asked via PM.
Figured I'd put it up here on the outside chance someone else runs into the same thing.

Sorry for the wall but I figured I better let you know everything that happened as it happened and what I did to try and resolve it myself.


Ok now I seem to be able to get through again. Game included. At least the non beta version anyway. I'll try reinstalling the beta again later and see what happens.
At the time And just now (I checked just to make sure I knew what I was writing about)using the ping details on the arena selection screen and showed 0 lost packets.
I had been able to get into the beta and was actually about 3 min into my maiden flight when suddenly the game just shut off, and Windows firewall popped up. I selected allow just as I usually do when this happens.
Then I hadnt been able to get in again in either game.
I rechecked the firewall setting and sure enough. Both versions were on my allowed "exceptions" list

At one point I shut the firewall off completely to see if it was somehow firewall related. To no avail.

So I head to the boards and Using Firefox I couldnt get past the HTC homepage.
I kept getting a "connection was reset" message.
But then I noticed I was able to get into the boards when using the AOL software.
Not so unusual as I discovered that occasionally I can get on a site Im having problems with using AOL that wont load using firefox or explorer by itself.
I noticed some time ago that AOL takes a different path to some sites then my normal ISP takes.
Ok so I decide this could be a possible cause . I then decide just for chuckles to see if I can get on using a different machine here. In this case my daughters. And sure enough I can get onto the boards just fine using Firefox on her machine.
Recheck this one. and still cant get on.
Ok now so I'm re suspecting something on my rig. double check firewall and everything checks out. But then I couldnt get on using AOL either.
Jump back on my kids machine and I can still get on just fine.
So Im thinking maybe I have some sort of bug. since it only seemed to be effecting my machine and we all use the the same ISP but everything checks out and it was only effecting HTC. No other site.
Tried unchecking and rechecking HTC in my exceptions thinking maybe it was somehow hung up.
Tried getting rid of some junk I DLed a couple of weeks ago thinking maybe there was an outside chance there was something in those that my security software wasnt seeing and unchecking another program from the exceptions list in the firewall.
Eventually everything started working again.. though Im not sure exactly what I did to get it to work again and it was too late and I was too tired to look into it any further.

In any event As of this AM I can still get into both the game and the boards on my regular machine.
I'll try reinstalling everything again later and give it another shot and se if it happens again.
I'm guessing it was something on my end. But it sure did seem like it was the HTC sites that didnt want me on for some reason. At least not from that machine

I can no longer enter either arena either. All seems normal upon entering and loading but then I'm instantly kicked off. This has happened four straight times in multiple arenas. Any suggestions?

Kicked off before logging in, as you are loggin in, or when you select an arena to connect to?

Did you try running a Ping Plot to the game servers to see if it was Internet related?

No problem. I didnt know if it did or didnt. But since it only happened after I installed the beta it seemed like the logical place to put it.
Figured you would move it if need be

Like I said. Im guessing it is or was something on my end. particularly inasmuch as I was only experiencing problems on 1 machine out of 4 currently in this house
I'm just baffled as to what.
As for HTC blocking me. I beleive you. Im just exploring all avenues of possibility

I'm getting kicked off once entering the arena, any arena. Interestingly I have not downloaded beta yet. I get a clipboard and can briefly see the map but I'm out long before the roster could fill out for example. Didn't play yesterday but Wednesday everything was fine. Seems to coincide with beta release but then, as I mentioned, I don't even have it yet.

We have the damndest luck.  It also coincided with the deaths of multiple personalities.  Never underestimate the publics need for gruesome news about celebrities.  Would not surprise me if it was causing all manner of problems with cable Internet users.

Yeah, I hear that on the cattle stampede for celebrity news.  I wouldn't doubt it either.

Ping seems fine.  AvA arena is perfect and DA is perfect.  Seems only colored arenas are affected.  I do have a new router that I just learned was installed last night, but the other PCs on the new router are not getting kicked from the game.  Hrmm.

well prior to today i never had a problem, couldn't get on past the clipboard, offline was fine, without installing the new version. I went to the forums saw the new vesion and loaded it. played just fine.  Server then shut down (message before hand) i went to desktop, restart game, asked me to upload and install new version (patch) did so, restart game and can't get past the screen right after log on to arena. My only option is a grey box that says cancel.

Still can't get into arenas in normal game.
Tuesday everything was fine, today first thing.. issue's. Computer has gone from AH and off on monday, 3days off On today and AH first thing I did, no mods

I am thinking the "message of the day" we put up may have been causing some players problems.  Why it would impact some players and not all is a mystery.

However, to be sure, we have removed the "message of the day" from the arenas.  See if that fixes your problems.
