problems with Sound blaster mic in game

ok i had a SB 5.1 Card but it quit workin after 8 long years of service AND 4 COMPUTERS...i bought a SB audigy just to get me through on the machine im usin....on my old 5.1 card i could have the mic muted in the control panel audio HQ and it still worked in the game w/push to talk....now with this audigy 7.1 card that doesnt work...i have to have the mic unmuted in order for it to work in the game...its still press to talk but i have to listen to myself breathe PLZ help me :furious

In the control panel go to hardware and sound then manage audio devices.
Click on the recording tab then double click on microphone.
In microphone properties click on the listen tab.
Uncheck the "Listen to this device"box and hit apply
That should fix you up.

im usin xp and i have their creative sound manager runnin evreything...so is it throught the windows control panel ...

i think i got it it was listed under advanced in mic controls as do not monitor gonna go try it now
