I was standing next to a Pearl Harbor veteran at Glacier Girl's first flight. We drove 10 hours in one day just for the flight. The weather was a bit low but they flew her anyway. Quite a moving experience overall.

I saw GG on display at the Dayton Airshow a couple years later. Amazing restoration job.

I remember going to the EAA in the early 90's when they were first retrieving them.  They showed pics in a tent of what they were doing etc and what they found.  Last year was the first time I've been at the EAA since then and I was very glad to see Glacier Girl there on display.

It's such a cool story, never gets old hearing it.

They took the cannon out and and gave it a test firing after all those years.

cactus, excellent video. Really gives you a sense of how powerful the 20mm is.

Amazing that it worked after all those years too.

The Danes were burned bad enough on Glacier Girl, those other 5 will stay there.   It's a shame too.

There's a couple B-17's down there too, crushed even worse than the P-38's are.
