Good luck.  That will certainly be a life-long memory.  I remember my first solo clearly:  Looking over at that empty seat next to me and feeling a bit of terror and euphoria all rolled into one!  Climbing out afterwards feeling on top of the world. :x

I thought that was for the first cross-country...? Was for me. :)
My first solo was in a R22 Beta helicopter... shocked the heck out of me when the thing leapt off the ground without the weight of the instructor that I was used to!

Good luck, Nova!

<--Agreeing with Roundeye....  What a Blast I had that day...back in 1983, when I Taxied  away from the Ramp...ALONE. (I had NO idea that my CFI PLANNED on my SOLO today).

****and The look on my CFI's Face was PRICELESS....

.... and it went some thing like this:

** Current ATIS info = ALPHA   (winds 185@7)

NOTE: I had been flying earlier that morning with RIGHT Traffic patterns, making a few minor (very minor) altitude judgement errors.

(ME) "Ground.. Cessna XXXX , With ALPHA .. Taxi.... 1st Solo..."

(Tower...grnd Freq..to me) "Cessna XXXX, Taxi to 15, Squalk   (xxxxxxx..don't remember what is was..) Tower Frequency 118.3 when ready.. Good luck. !

(ME, grnd Freq) "Ground, CessnaXXXX Taxi to 15, roger"

So I putter out to the "Hold short", do my Run up.... Breathe.... Deep breath... & Dial up Tower.. 118.30

(ME) "Tower, Cessna XXXX ready to go, 15"

(Tower on 118.30) Cessna XXXX Looks like the winds are changing. Current ATIS now "Bravo" and winds at Three Zero Zero @ 9.... Continue Taxi  on Runway 15 & taxi to the Other end...Advise when ready.

(ME)" Roger... taxi onto 15 to the other end & I'll advise."

So I putter to the other end....(4500 feet) & turn around headed 330 degrees...

(ME) "Tower, Cessna XXXX  ready to go..."

(Tower) " Cessna XXXX Cleared for takeoff...  Climb & maintain 2000 feet please,... Left traffic"

Now mind you... my CFI is on the ground watching all of this without a radio (for monitoring me & the local traffic) & After I took off  & was comfortable.. I thought of him doing the "OMG... WTF is he doing, thought & I absolutely Broke out laughing at him.. with me Soloing.

After I made my touch & go's & landed, The Taxi back to the ramp was full of my "Ohhh Helll Yeaaaas,  I did it..." & the like. I did see  My CFI was giving me the 'golf clap' sign of approval as I shut down & got chocked.

The Thing I remember MOST about that day (back in 1983 !) was the Story he told ME and how he had to run to the FBO & listen on the radio to see WTF was I was up to....  Turns out, he never heard the ATIS change to "Bravo" & never even thought about a wind change.

Hugely rewarding AND I still chuckle after 25+ Years.

Lastly.... I lost my Favorite TeeShirt that day..  My name, Cessna XXXX, date & time were Written on the back,(in  black Marker) then it was CUT from my back with a pair of scissors.  I drove home "Backless"

 Good Luck xNOVAx! <S>

 Have a blast ! :rock

ps, I'm still in Aviation but don't fly anymore....

Good luck xNOVAx - let us know how it goes.

I'm a bit behind you - off to do stalls and spins for the first time tomorrow.

Wow you guys are doing spins? We've done power on and power off stalls, but yet to put the cessna into a spin.. I don't think my instructor would allow it and I don't think its a required part of training anymore.. Though, I did get myself into some spins when I went flying in a Pitts S-2B a few months ago.. :)

Your instructor thinks you're ready.  Good luck, though you won't be relying on luck.

Roundeye is right.  You will remember these few landings forever.  Roll it on the runway.  "Tower, confirm wheels on the ground."
