Music info/ Winamp
« on: July 02, 2009, 10:53:37 PM »
Alright... I have Winamp and some music. Got some questions.

First off, is there a way I can edit music info? I have a lot of albums that are across multiple discs and it shows up in the description... like The Wall [Disc 1] The Wall [Disc 2] etc. It's not a huge deal, but it's annoying, though, enough to warrant me to go through and manually edit it all out.

Now, Winamp doesn't automatically update the library like WMP, once you change something in your my music folder. So, does anyone know how I can tell Winamp that I changed all this stuff?

Also... it's randomly taken two tracks out of 'How the West Was Won' and stuck them under a different Led Zeppelin (literally the same... no extra spaces or anything) listing. How can I fix this?

Can you right click on the MP3 file and add titles, albums, and such? I know you can do it in-line with iTunes but I seem to recall being able to do it in Properties of the MP3 file.

Nope, I've got to do it in Explorer.

These are the only options I've got in Winamp.

I gave up on Winamp after the newer version went flaky on me. I used it exclusively for music for years, and for playing with AH sounds, but recently it won't play any Wavs, and I just uninstalled it. No changes to anything- it just stopped working.

Are there other programs that will sync to iPods? WMP can't, which sucks I actually like it.
Can you do it manually?

iTunes. I doubt that the difficulty is coincidental.

I used to use Winamp, but got tired of your same issue.   I had iTunes on my PC for an hour a couple of years ago (I have no iPod, but needed Quicktime at the time and figured what the hell?), but I'll never put it on my PC again.

By the way, pick up something by Leadbelly.   He is more influential in Blues than most will give him credit for.

I used to use WMP 9, went to 11, hated it and now love WMP 10.

Actually worth it, tagged my co-workers 9500 mp3's in like 2 hours. 95% + totally correct. If it doesn't have proper file name, or data it samples the song and compares the audio to archives. We tested it on a few obscure songs, removed all meta-data, and renamed the file song01.mp3, it got all of them correct.

How could you make that happen?  :uhoh

Ive used iTunes since it first came out and never had any problems like that. Atm i have almost 793 albums in iTunes and sync with my iPod Touh all the time without issues.

That would be kinda hard considering iTunes keeps a backup of your entire contents

I used Winamp all the time back in the day.  The wheels began to fall of that program after they released Winamp 3 (visually pretty, but very slow).  Since then I've used WMP, various version.  I do quite enjoy WMP 11.  Currently I've been giving Songbird support.  It's a bit slow but I enjoy the interface and addons.  Not all the features are available through it yet.

I can't stand Itunes.  Sorry I don't need 3-4 more processes running in the background after I install it.

The trick is to run it on mac.  :aok
