Hint: Taken at the Paul E. Garber restoration facility of the Smithsonian Museum, in Suitland, Maryland, USA.

I visited that museum but I don't recall seeing that engine. The numbering looks German. Looks like a valve cover from a V-12. Jumo or Daimler-Benz? I'll guess Jumo, because they have a Ta 152.

*Edit*
Jumo and DB are inverted V-12. So it's not German, or it's a crankcase cover, or I'm really lost.
