Out of work Hellcat driver.
« on: July 06, 2009, 02:21:04 PM »
I flew AH a few years back. I was a squad CO for a small group of friends, flew for a couple squadrons, and ended my tour with the 56th Fighter Group. Great group of pilots back in the day. I am sure they still are. I became a bit burnt out after several years of flying, and I got caught up in online racing (cars). I have been doing that for the last few years, and still have fun with that. I used to fly under the handle of Kutt.

The old urges came back a few weeks ago, I bought an X52, and reupped my account. My flying is marginal, my Situational Awareness I would describe as oblivious, my gunnery is a waste of tax payer dollars, and I only seem to remember how to repeat the mistakes I used to make at ACM. Starting with this solid foundation I only have one goal.

I want to fly Hellcats as best as I can. I will certainly strap on a Corsair if needed.

This go around in AH, I am a little older, hopefully wiser, and know what I like. I like sitting behind a big R2800 Double Wasp radial and shooting 50's at stuff that wanders through my sights. I like returning to a carrier and catching a 3 wire. I like the process of getting better at ACM.

Maybe it is because I served on the USS Saratoga CV-60, my dad on the Bonne Homme Richard CV-31, watched too much Blacksheep Squadron as a kid, or because Navy Blue makes me look hawt :).

I don't really know. I just know I really like it. It isn't that I won't fly other stuff once in a while. Help take a base down for fun. I just know what I like.

So if there is any squad or fellow Hellcat\Corsair chronic looking for a con dragger, a "fixer upper" for a wingman, or just can't stand to see someone destroy so many beautiful blue planes senselessly. Just let me know.

I flew Knights in my past life, Bish right now, but I have only been back a few days and I haven't grown attached to any country to be honest.

Gearmesh...

Go here www.VF17.org

We fly VF-17s historic rides the F4U1 F4U1A and F6F. We also do some jabo work in the F4U1D.

We fly in the Friday Night Squad Ops as well. In fact the next three weeks features the F6F vs the A6M5.

You can PM me or Whiteman on this board if interested.

Just echoing what Shifty said. You are welcome to come aboard and give us a try.
Btw, my stepfather served aboard the Saratoga and my grandfather served aboard CV-31 "The Bonnie Dick", during the closing months of WWII.
Small world.  :aok

The VF-17 is a great squad and I would suggest checking them out.

My squad(see sig) is bishop this month and I am a hellcat junkie as well. My in game ID is Lagger. If you see me on don't hesitate to say hey, would love to wing up with a fellow F6f pilot. I don't know the recruiting status of the VF-6 as of now, but our squad plane is the Hellkitty and I'm sure if you bought Rattfink (our valiant CO) a sheep coloring book, you could fly around and wreck stuff with us for a night. :salute

edit. I see you joined VF-17...excellent choice sir

They got to me pretty quick and I was glad to take their offer. Thanks for the advice though!

I still wouldn't mind upping a hellcat with ya, Not too many dedicated f6f pilots out there. I still ruin most of the ones I up, but it is by far my favorite. :salute
