Hahaha.
Skating and BMX were great days.
Me and a couple of mates got chased by this nutter in a car one day. We were riding home from the trails, minding our own business when this car comes speeding past and honks at us.
We responded, as teenagers do, with some choice words and gestures.
Apparently, he did not appreciate this, hit the anchors and turned around and chased us. He even got out of his car and ran after one of my mates. Hahaha.
It ended up be a tactical side-street and fence hopping mission to get away from the nutter who's wife was in the car yelling at him to get back in the car.
Hahaha.
Good times.
Skaters and riders are not always innocent, though, so the attitude toward them cannot always be blamed on 'stupid old men/women'.
I remember one day we were riding home from those same jumps again (which was an hour long ride through industrial estates and drains, sometimes with shovels and picks for digging too). My mates and I were riding with some other riders that we knew through riding the same skate-parks.... They were scummy as hell and from a dodgy area... smoking, drinking and drugs.... all that. On the way home, we were all riding in a group and a couple of them started grinding cars parked on the street.
(For those who don't know what grinding is:

I was riding behind one of them and out of no where, he just hopped up and did that ^ along the side of the bonnet of an old Merc.
I wasn't impressed...... it just goes to show that there are watermelon people out there that do watermelon things.
'Riders' and skaters in general get blamed for the actions of people like Jim.
Street riders and skaters do tend to cause damage.... but I never really enjoyed all of that city riding rubbish.
This is what riding is alllllllll about:
