Isn't the La7's engine only 1800 HP or so?
Did a brief search (learning as I go with the La7, here), and most sources seem to agree that the ASh-82FNU (which we should have modeled in AH, unless I am mistaken) was rated at 1,850HP. It weighed, apparently, about 1,984lbs, dry.
By comparison, as is my understanding, the A8 was powered by one of two BMW's; the 801-D2 or the 801-Q. Each was rated (source depending) between 1,677HP and 1,730HP or, in the case of injection, between 1,953HP and 2,000HP, for short durations. The 801D's, by comparison, approached 2,500lbs in weight.
I could not find wet weights, but, either way, that an approximate weight differential of 500lbs. You would surely feel that in the game and most assuredly in real life - if in no other capacity than wing loading.
Since Im doing this as I go to see if my initial assumption was accurate... let me do some math, here...
A8 weighs in, loaded, at 9,735lbs with the 801. Against peak HP of 2,000 (WEP), thats 0.21HP/lb.
La weighs in, loaded, at 7,183lbs with the 62. Against peak HP of 1,850, thats 0.26HP/lb.
If we remove the the 2,500lb 801, we get a rough, "roller" weight of 7,235lb.
If we then install the 1,984lb 62, we get a revised weight of 9,219lbs.
Powered by the weaker, but lighter 62, you have a 9,219lb aircraft driven by a 1,850HP engine for a P:W ratio of 0.20HP/lb.
So, your unwritten "wink" that I might be incorrect is, in fact, valid.
You win.

See you up tonight. lol
