How do brits select their pilots?  It seems you're going in without knowing exactly what you'll be doing...

The UK has 3 air arms- the RAF, Army Air Corp and the Fleet Air Arm, which i'm joining.  Initial Officer Training is 35 weeks at BRNC Dartmouth including 3 weeks of flying grading.  Then i head off to Barkston Heath at RAF Cranwell for 26 weeks of Elementary Flight Training. Upon completion only then am i streamlined for either fast jet or rotary, so it's a long time from being able to say what i'll be flying. :)

At least you know why i was defending the Royal Navy in that thread diehard, i'm biased as hell. :D  It would be nice to fly a harrier before they are withdrawn from service.

Couple of quick points.
1. At least Thrila will never HO because in the RN they are taught to sneak up behind and take you.
2. If he does go on to fly Harriers will he then get back in the game and ask why there is no vifing ?
