Thrila is joing the royal navy :)

I just received my confirmation letter following my medical last week. :)   I commence intial officer training on the 7th sept. Let's hope i get the oppportunity to fly a harrier.

Won't the Harrier be phased out when your pilot training is complete? Aren't you getting the F-35?

Cheers guys and gal. :)

I believe the mod has recently purchased 3 f-35's for testing, i don't think they are scheduled to enter service with the navy until 2014-16.

Wouldn't it take you that long to qualify for flying one? How long until you can fly fighters in the UK?

The RN won't be flying the Typhoon, unless - of course - the Americans get all snotty about releasing source code for the F-35 again, in which case the Typhoon might get modified for carrier use.
