There might be two possible reasons:
1: You are linking to a whole page with your link and not just the graphic element.
2: some websites like Geocities will not allow export to non Geocities sites. Webshots may be one of them.

i just thought they were pretty good pictures of the planes, and thought everyone would like them

Joe you just need the URL of the picture.
For the first picture it's http://wsphotofews.excite.com/012/CV/t3/tH/mi18129.jpg

You get the URL by right clicking on the picture (on the original page) and selecting properties. Then you can select the URL and copy it to your clipboard (ctrl-c).

Then hit the image button when you are composing your message. A box will pop up and you can copy the URL into the box (ctrl-v).
